The New York Giants are facing a quarterback conundrum and look likely to field a third-stringer against the Los Angeles Chargers in their Week 14 clash. This unfortunate predicament has turned the market against the Giants in a big way. The game is now pegged on a 10½-point line, which is up from the lookahead Las Vegas Odds that projected this inter-conference showdown on a 7½-point spread initially.

It’s been over four years since the New York Giants and Los Angeles Chargers collided, a clash that featured Eli Manning and Philip Rivers going head-to-head on Oct. 8, 2017. The Chargers got the better of the Giants 27-22 at MetLife Stadium. Lifetime, the Chargers lead the series 7-5-0.
Obviously, this is an entire new matchup featuring completely reworked teams. The NFL odds currently on offer have little to do with the past and everything to do with the present.

Next game: vs Dallas Cowboys
The New York Giants are coming off a 20-9 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Daniel Jones, who suffered a neck injury in New York’s 13-7 win over the Philadelphia Eagles the week before, was sidelined. Backup quarterback Mike Glennon started instead of Jones. He went 23-of-44 for 187 passing yards and one interception.
After the game, the veteran was diagnosed with a concussion. His status is day-to-day, which means that Jake Fromm could get the start if Glennon doesn’t clear concussion protocol. Fromm was acquired from the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad last week. The former fifth-round pick out of Georgia hasn’t played a regular-season game.
Giants QB Daniel Jones is ‘likely’ out next week, per sources, and may be evaluated by a specialist.
So with Mike Glennon’s concussion, Jake Fromm’s going to be preparing for his first NFL start this week.

Jones (neck), Glennon (concussion), wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quadricep), defensive back Adoree Jackson (quadricep), and wide receiver Kadarius Toney (quadricep) are questionable Sunday. Guard Wes Martin (illness) is out indefinitely.
Los Angeles Chargers
Next game: vs Kansas City Chiefs
One week, the Chargers are soaring and slaying giants. Another week, they’re down in the dumps and beating themselves. It’s anybody’s guess what team shows up. Last week, however, the Chargers that captivated everyone’s imagination made a timely appearance in Cincinnati. And to the delight of Bolts’ nation, Justin Herbert won the much-hyped battle of former top draft picks by leading Los Angeles to the 41-22 win over Joe Burrows and the Bengals.
Herbert went 26-of-35 for 317 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Austin Ekeler rushed for 59 yards and a score and added another 34 yards in receiving. Mike Williams led the team in receiving with 110 yards while Keenan Allen had two touchdowns on five receptions and 34 yards.
Defensive end Joey Bosa (head), defensive tackle Justin Jones (knee), cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. (concussion), and safety Alchi Gilman (quadricep) are questionable. Wide receiver Keenan Allen (illness) is out indefinitely.
Giants vs Chargers Betting Preview
Being a Chargers fan requires a strong constitution and should come with a health warning because it’s been one incredible rollercoaster ride since the start of the season. The Chargers started brightly, winning four of their first five games to move into the top half of the AFC West. Along the way, the Chargers beat the Chiefs, Raiders and Browns, to name a few. Since Week 5, though, it’s been a bumpy ride highlighted by just three wins in seven games.
The Chargers aren’t exactly a sure bet in any NFL picks and parlays scenario with form oscillating from week to week. However, in beating the Bengals in Week 13, the Chargers improved their chances to make the playoffs. That’s motivation.
On a level playing field, the balance was always going to tip in Los Angeles’ favor for this matchup. Now with the Giants potentially fielding an unknown, untried and untested signal-caller, one has to believe the Chargers warrant their heavy favoritism.
Of course, one can’t dismiss a fledgling quarterback out of hand. Who’s to say a star might not be born on Sunday? It couldn’t happen in a more appropriate place than the home of Hollywood.
But as fascinating as such a storyline would be, one has to wonder if Fromm’s supporting cast and the direction from the Giants coaching staff is at a sufficiently high level to make such a fanciful upset a reality. Put it this way: Can you trust Joe Judge and Freddie Kitchens to have Fromm ready in less than a week in order to lead the Giants to victory over the Chargers? Would you bet on it?
Big spreads are tricky and can backfire on betting online aficionados. In this case, the risk is diminished by the uncertainty that surrounds the G-men. As such, it’s worth laying the points with the Chargers for another big win.
