The Chicago Bears, New York Giants, and Minnesota Vikings enter the Week 12 bye with something to look forward to. The Bears still have a rich offseason to make up for another disastrous year. Their NFC North rivals, the Vikings, could be headed back to the postseason. And the Giants look rejuvenated and ready to play “spoiler”. Given how they’re trending, they could be trusted on NFL betting odds in some capacity.
Grin and Bear It? Chicago Fans Look to the Offseason
- Record: 4-8
- ATS: 5-5-2
- Point Differential: -50
This 2023 Bears season is looking too much like last year: an atrocious defense (29th in scoring) with Justin Fields occasionally looking magical on offense. But the good news for Chicago is that they could potentially have the first two picks in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Thanks to a trade with Carolina, which is last in the league, the Bears could just draft their next two superstars. So where does that leave Fields? He may be on his way out and he’ll use these remaining games to increase his value as he moves teams.
The coaching staff is likely done after this season as well. But the Bears can be not-so-terrible on NFL lines, especially as a first-half team. With three divisional games remaining, and two more against potential playoff teams, Chicago may just upset the apple cart.
Vikings Hitting Rough Waters
- Record: 6-6
- ATS: 7-4-1
- Point Differential: +17
Minnesota was bound to let folks down at some point. That ugly loss to Chicago just emphasizes how unpredictable this team can be for NFL predictions. So this bye week comes at an opportune time as the Vikings can get quarterback Joshua Dobbs more up to speed with the offense. Superstar receiver Justin Jefferson also gets another week to return.

Even with the loss, Minnesota is still a profitable team to bet on. It is still in a playoff spot though a precarious one. The Vikings have little wiggle room as they still have three division games remaining including one against Green Bay, which is just behind them.
This team’s odds for Super Bowl LVIII have not shortened much. But Minnesota is in the driver’s seat to return to the playoffs. From there, maybe they can pull off more playoff magic.
Giants Actually Winning
- Record: 4-8
- ATS: 4-7-1
- Point Differential: -133
Don’t look now, but the Giants have won two straight games. And what’s crazy is that this team could still make the postseason if it finds a way to win the remainder of its schedule. Don’t bet online on it. The Giants face Philadelphia twice and also take on three NFC teams still fighting for the playoffs.
But if the Giants keep winning with Tommy DeVito under center, it may just create a quarterback controversy. Of course, the Giants will go back to Daniel Jones when he gets healthy. But that’s more so because he’s being paid a handsome amount. Otherwise, DeVito has shown he’s capable of getting this team wins.
The defense has also been rejuvenated, having forced nine turnovers in their last two games. If the offense was a bit better, the Giants would have a legitimate shot at rallying for a potential Wild Card spot. But we’re not holding our breaths. Instead, the totals could continue to go under as 75% of their games have (3-9-0).

Nothing is impossible in the NFL. Despite their long-shot NFL odds, the Vikings could win Super Bowl LVIII.
Will the Vikings finish the season with the best record?
The Vikings do not have to finish with the best record in the NFL. They can simply win three more games and potentially clinch a playoff spot.
