NFC North Super Bowl 59 Betting Odds and Futures Picks

Two of the biggest positive surprises in the NFL last season came out of the NFC North. First, the Detroit Lions went from a perennial laughing stock to a legit Super Bowl contender quicker than anyone expected. Forget a step, they took a leap forward in 2023. The same goes for the Green Bay Packers. A team with a new QB that was four points away from a trip to the NFC Championship game.

Are there any good NFL betting futures bets in the NFC North to win Super Bowl 59, and if so, who are they?

NFC North Super Bowl 59 Betting Odds and Futures Picks

1. Detroit Lions

It’s amazing what just a couple of seasons of growth and good roster moves can do for a franchise. On offense, the Lions are set up as one of the most dangerous attacks in the NFL. And, with the 29th pick in the upcoming draft, they can bolster their already decent defense.

Of all the teams and conferences I’ve written Super Bowl 59 NFL odds previews for this week, the Lions intrigue me the most. They have a lot of positive momentum heading into 2024, one of the best offenses in the league, and a defense, with a few minor tweaks, that can bring them to a Super Bowl. Because they have such a high ceiling, the Lions are one of just a few off-season NFL bets I’m making.

2. Green Bay Packers

I was pretty down on the Packers heading into 2023, but after crushing the Dallas Cowboys 48-32 in the Wild Card round, my opinions of this team turned right around. Not only did they defeat one of the most hated teams in sports, but they looked good doing it. Then, they nearly beat the San Francisco 49ers but stumbled and lost 24-21. Imagine how different this conversation would be if they just held on and won that game.

One worry I have for the Packers in 2024 is they lost another defensive coordinator and will be working with Jeff Hafley, formerly HC of Boston College. It’s Matt LaFleur’s third DC since becoming head coach, and he just hasn’t been able to nail down the right guy.

3. Chicago Bears

I don’t understand why the Bears’ Super Bowl odds are this good, considering there is a good chance they will be led by a rookie QB in 2024. Recent chatter suggests that the Bears will move on from Justin Fields and draft Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick.

I think drafting Williams is the right move for Chicago, but I don’t think it makes them all that much better in the short term. Rookie QBs are rarely impactful right out of the gate, and even top picks need time to develop.

4. Minnesota Vikings

The fact that the Bears have better Super Bowl odds than the Vikings without a clear starting QB tells us how little we should expect from Minnesota in 2024.

I love Kirk Cousins, and he’s probably the best guy to lead this team right now. But, he’s almost 36 and on the mend from his first major surgery and has a contract that will void in mid-March. With no clear replacement on or off the resistor, there are too many question marks surrounding this offense to consider a future bet of any kind.
