The decision for the New York Giants to hold onto quarterback Daniel Jones and let running back Saquon Barkley walk in free agency is looking worse with each passing day. The same week that the Giants cut loose their former starting quarterback, Barkley tore through the Los Angeles Rams for a pair of 70-yard scoring runs to set the Philadelphia Eagles’ single-game rushing record.
Even with Barkley helping the Eagles to their seventh win in a row, they couldn’t close the gap on the Detroit Lions in the NFC power rankings. The Eagles are the only NFC team with a division lead of more than one game so the race for the playoff spots will start to heat up.
Two of the NFC teams currently holding down playoff spots will be in action on Thanksgiving. The 10-1 Detroit Lions will be home to face division rival Chicago in the first of Thursday’s tripleheader. The BetUS sportsbook has Detroit favored by 10.5 points. It will be just the second time in the last 15 seasons that the Lions are favored by more than eight points against the Bears.
The Green Bay Packers are 3-point favorites against visiting Miami in the first home matchup with the Dolphins since 2018.
Let’s take a look at the top contenders in the NFC as the NFL futures odds have the Detroit Lions at +300 followed by the Eagles at +650 in the odds of winning the Super Bowl. The Lions continue to be the favorite to win the Super Bowl.
NFC Super Bowl Rankings: Top 6 Contenders
1. Detroit Lions (+130 to Win the NFC)
Last Week Ranking: 1
Much of the focus has been on Detroit’s offense but the defense was on display in a Week 12 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts. After the Colts came away with field goals on two of their first three drives, they were held to 20 yards or less in the next six drives.
Running back Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery each have 11 touchdowns for Detroit heading into Thursday’s matchup with Chicago. Both players have -200 odds to score a touchdown in NFL player prop picks.
David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs are the first pair of running back teammates in NFL history with at least 10 rushing TD apiece in consecutive seasons.

Detroit leads the NFL with a +177-point differential. No other NFC team has reached triple figures in point differential.

2. Philadelphia Eagles (+300)
Last Week Ranking: 2
It is safe to say that running back Saquon Barkley is loving life during his first season with the Eagles. The former New York Giants star left behind a franchise in disarray and already has a career high with 1,392 rushing yards with six games left to play.

Despite A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert combining to miss eight games, the Eagles are pulling away in the NFC East race.
The defense took when veteran defensive end Brandon Graham suffered a season-ending torn bicep on Sunday Night Football, according to NFL news.
Three of the next four games come against teams with winning records as the Eagles are holding steady at No. 2 in the weekly NFC rankings.

3. Minnesota Vikings (+900)
Last Week Ranking: 3
Per NFL betting trends, Minnesota is now 6-1 in games decided by six points or less after edging the Chicago Bears in overtime. Running back Aaron Jones and receiver Jordan Addison each had 100-yard games, as did tight end T.J. Hockenson in just his fourth game of the season.
It was another quiet game for star receiver Justin Jefferson while Jonathan Greenard is up to nine sacks after getting to rookie QB Caleb Williams twice. Both could be Week 13 player prop options.
Before the rematch with the Bears, there will be games against the Arizona Cardinals and the Atlanta Falcons.
4. Green Bay Packers (+750)
Last Week Ranking: 5
The anticipated showdown with the San Francisco 49ers turned into a laugher as the Packers capitalized on the injuries to key players on both sides of the ball for the 38-10 win. Green Bay’s previous three victories came by a combined total of six points.
It was another quiet game for quarterback Jordan Love, who didn’t need to air it out with the way that running back Josh Jacobs was running by and over the San Francisco defenders.
Green Bay has a challenging next few games beginning on Thanksgiving against a Miami team that has won three games in a row. The Packers will meet up with the NFC-leading Detroit Lions and Seattle after that.
Bet on the NFC Conference Winner
5. Washington Commanders (+2800)
Last Week Ranking: 3
Washington is trending in the wrong direction with three straight losses with the Commanders allowing 28, 26 and 34 points against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dak Prescott-less Dallas Cowboys.
Two missed extra points proved to be costly against the Cowboys. There are injury concerns for running backs Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler heading into a Week 13 matchup with Tennessee. Keep that in line when making NFL picks.
6. Seattle Seahawks (+3300)
Last Week Ranking: 9
Seattle followed up its road win against San Francisco by shutting down the NFC West Division-leading Arizona Cardinals. Coby Bryant’s interception return was the only touchdown in the second half of the 16-6 win by Seattle.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba has already topped his numbers for receptions and receiving yards from his rookie season. The lack of a consistent running game is a concern, however.
The Seahawks and Cardinals will meet again in Week 14 as four teams are within a game of the lead in the NFC West.
