- Seattle receiver DK Metcalf is among the injured stars who won’t play in Week 9.
- The Baltimore Ravens could have quarterback Lamar Jackson on the field for their Week 9 matchup with the Denver Broncos.

How painful has the 2024 NFL season been so far? Well, five of the players who finished in the top 10 in receiving yards a season ago will not be playing in Week 9, with San Francisco’s Brandon Aiyuk and Houston’s Nico Collins leading the list of star pass catchers on injured reserve.
Each of the Week 9 games will see the NFL betting odds impacted by the players who are unable to hit the field. The Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers both are on byes in Week 9, so that could help both of them get players back on the field.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans will both be without their top two receivers with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin of the Buccaneers and Collins and Stefon Diggs of the Texans out in Week 9.
When looking at the NFL injury report, Dallas edge rusher Micah Parsons, New Orleans cornerback Marshon Lattimore, Philadelphia tight end Dallas Goedert and Seattle receiver DK Metcalf are among the big names already ruled out in Week 9.
It is not all bad news, as Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson returned to practice on Friday and has no injury designation, while Minnesota tight end T.J. Hockenson could make his 2024 debut.
Let’s look at three games that could be impacted the most by the absence of injured players, beginning with a matchup between two of the top NFC title contenders, according to the NFL predictions.
Top 3 Games In Week 9 Impacted By Injuries
1. Dallas Cowboys vs Atlanta Falcons
The Dallas Cowboys are already without defensive end Micah Parsons, cornerback DaRon Bland and defensive tackle DeMarcus Lawrence. Could cornerback Trevon Diggs also be sidelined?
Diggs joins defensive tackle Linval Joseph and linebacker Eric Kendricks as defensive players listed as questionable for Dallas. Keep that in mind when making NFL picks, as that could be an issue going up against an Atlanta offense averaging the sixth most passing yards per game.

The Falcons will be without defensive Ruke Orhorhoro and linebacker JD Bertrand. Offensive linemen Chris Lindstrom and Drew Dalman are both questionable, and that’s never good news with a 36-year-old quarterback like Kirk Cousins.
2. Los Angeles Rams vs Seattle Seahawks
Just when the Los Angeles Rams had star receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua back on the field together, Nacua was injured once again.

Last year’s rookie phenom has been limited in practice as a result of a knee injury. Reports are that it is not expected to be a serious injury, but considering the time that Nacua has already missed this season, it is still a cause for concern.
When Rams head coach Sean McVay met with the media, he left the door open for Nacua to be on the field against the Seahawks in a key NFC West showdown.
“Fortunately there’s nothing structurally (wrong),” McVay said. “He’ll be listed as questionable, but I wouldn’t bet against this guy. My expectation is he’s going to do everything in his power to be ready to roll, and that’s the mindset that we have.”
Offensive lineman Joe Noteboom and defensive tackle Neville Gallimore have been ruled out for the Rams. Safety Kamren Curl and receiver Jordan Whittington are both questionable for the matchup with the Seahawks.
Seattle receiver DK Metcalf, who is averaging 16.2 yards per catch, will miss his second game of the season with a knee injury. Tight end Noah Fant is out with a groin injury, so that limits the options for Seattle quarterback Geno Smith, the NFL leader with nearly 2,200 passing yards.
The NFL odds have the Rams listed as a one-point road favorite.
3. Detroit Lions vs Green Bay Packers
There might not be a more anticipated Week 9 game than the one between longtime rivals Detroit and Green Bay.
The 6-1 Lions continue to play without star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson. Fellow defensive linemen Josh Paschal and Brodric Martin as well as linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez have already been ruled out for the Lions. Defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo is trending that way as well.
Rookie safety Evan Williams is the only Packers player currently listed as being out.
Quarterback Jordan Love has had to deal with his share of injuries this season. He has been limited in practice and is questionable.
It is the same story for running back Josh Jacobs. Jacobs was a limited participant in a couple of late-week practices, and he could have a big day against an injury-ravaged Detroit front seven.
Green Bay cornerback Jaire Alexander is also carrying a questionable tag, while center Josh Myers is doubtful.
Injuries are a part of the game, but make sure you have knowledge of who will be playing and who won’t before you do your online sports betting on the Week 9 games.
