NFL Power Rankings: Super Bowl LVI future-odds

The 2020 NFL Betting season ended with Tom Brady hoisting another Lombardi Trophy. That marks the seventh time a season has ended in this fashion but this time it was with a new team. Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers upset the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-9 in Super Bowl LV.  Shortly after that, the offseason began with a video of Brady throwing the Lombardi Trophy from his boat to another boat while obviously under the influence of alcohol.

It has been a month since Super Bowl LV and some teams have already made some splashes by making trades. March 9 marks the end of the Franchise and Transition Tags period. The 2021 NFL league year starts at 4 p.m. ET on March 17 — meaning that teams can sign free agents and trades can become official. Many teams have tough decisions to make before the NFL Draft and many players will be hitting the open market later this month.

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2020 record: 11-5

Super Bowl LVI odds: +750

If you are going to bet on Super Bowl LVI then it would be crazy to not at least put some money on the Buccaneers repeating. Tampa Bay definitely has some tough decisions to make and will not be able to keep everyone from last season, but the Bucs will find replacements easier than most teams. There are many players who want to play in Florida with Tom Brady. The last team to win back-to-back Super Bowls was led by — you guessed it, QB1-Tom Brady.

2. Kansas City Chiefs

2020 record: 14-2

Super Bowl LVI odds: +450

The offseason betting favorite to win it all next year is the high-powered Chiefs.  Kansas City dominated most of 2020 but the Super Bowl has all their key-players back from this past season. The Chiefs need to invest in their offensive line, especially after cutting Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz, and once they do it will make their offense better. It is hard to imagine anyone beating a healthy-Chiefs team with a solid offensive line come playoff time.

3. Buffalo Bills

2020 record: 13-3

Super Bowl LVI odds: +1100

The Bills were a game away from the Super Bowl and have one of the league’s brightest young stars at QB. Josh Allen is my preseason favorite to win MVP in 2021, which should lead to the Bills winning a lot of games. The Bills’ core-players are mostly young players on rookie deals, which gives them some room to make moves. The Bills are the AFC’s best bet to knock-off the Chiefs anytime in the foreseeable future.

4. Green Bay Packers

2020 record: 13-3

Super Bowl LVI odds: +900

Green Bay is set to only get better this offseason. If Aaron Rodgers continues to play at the level he did in 2020 then the Packers will be one of the last teams standing, again. The NFC North is not that good making the Packers one of the safest bets in the NFL to win their division. A nice new offensive weapon with some added depth at OL and DL would mean trouble for the rest of the NFL.

5. Baltimore Ravens

2020 record: 11-5

Super Bowl LVI odds: +1200

The wide-receiver market is deep, which should bode well for the team that ranked dead last in the NFL in passing yards (171.5) last season. The Ravens need a true No. 1 receiver and another playmaker for Lamar Jackson to throw to or they will not be able to compete with the top dogs in the league. The Bears and Bucs both put franchise tags on top receivers so finding their guy may be difficult without trading.

06 Los Angeles Rams

2020 record: 10-6

Super Bowl LVI odds: +1200

The biggest move thus far this offseason is no-doubt the trade the Rams made to get QB Matthew Stafford. Stafford has been great but is 33 and has absolutely no postseason success. The Rams will have one of the best defenses and a potent offense, which neither has been the case for Stafford in Detroit.

7. Seattle Seahawks

2020 record: 12-4

Super Bowl LVI odds: +2000

There has been a lot of talk about Russell Wilson this offseason and I am sure it will continue. The Seahawks needed to take a look into the mirror and that is what Wilson is forcing them to do. I think they figure it out in Seattle and Wilson puts together an MVP-caliber year. At +2000 Seattle is a nice bet to win Super Bowl LVI.

8. Indianapolis Colts

2020 record: 11-5

Super Bowl LVI odds: +2000

The Colts went out and got Carson Wentz, who is coming from one of the worst offensive lines to one of the best in the NFL. Indianapolis also has the second-most cap space and should be able to fill holes and add depth. Another great bet at +2000, as I expect the Colts to win the AFC South and be scary come playoff time.

9. San Francisco 49ers

2020 record: 6-10

Super Bowl LVI odds: +1400

San Francisco was decimated by injuries in 2020, and should be able to return to the dominance it xperienced in 2019. The 49ers have one of the most talented and deepest rosters and are actively trying to shop the QB market. It’s nice to see a team that is willing to check out all the avenues even when they expect to be good and have a good option at QB.

10. New Orleans Saints

2020 record: 12-4

Super Bowl LVI odds: +1800

The Saints without Drew Brees would definitely be weird, but they should still be good. Like the 49ers the Saints have a loaded roster and serviceable QBs. Taysom Hill and Jameis Winson could be a deadly 1-2 punch as they have a top-5 RB and WR to get the ball to.

11. Cleveland Browns

2020 record: 11-5

Super Bowl LVI odds: +1800

The Browns will be able to keep most of their roster intact and use free agency and the draft to fill holes, especially on the defensive side of the ball. If Baker Mayfield continues to progress and Cleveland gets better on defense, they will win the AFC North. That is a big if, because let’s not forget that they are the Browns.

12. Miami Dolphins

2020 record: 10-6

Super Bowl LVI odds: +2500

The Dolphins are well ahead of schedule and have a bright future under head coach Brian Flores. Miami has a core-roster that is young and talented, and extra drafts picks the next few years should allow them to make the exact moves they want to better their team. Will they stick with Tua Tagovailoa or acquire Deshaun Watson or someone else to play QB?

13. Pittsburgh Steelers

2020 record: 12-4

Super Bowl LVI odds: +2800

Most likely 2021 is Ben Roethlisberger’s farewell tour, which means the Steelers need to figure out who their QB of the future is. Pittsburgh feels like a team set to take a step back next season, and possibly for a few seasons as they transition from Big Ben. They will definitely be competitive as they have a voracious pass rush and more offensive-playmakers than they know what to do with.

14. Tennessee Titans

2020 record: 11-5

Super Bowl LVI odds: +2800

The Titans have a lot of players who could be hitting the open market later this month. The combination of Derrick Henry, Ryan Tannehill, and A.J. Brown remains the scariest trio in football — which means this team should be good again next year.

15. Arizona Cardinals

2020 record: 8-8

Super Bowl LVI odds: +3300

The Cardinals signed 3x NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt already this offseason. Arizona is being aggressive to win as it believes it has a franchise QB in Kyler Murray. The NFC West is set to be loaded again, which will make the Cardinals fight for the playoffs a tough one. A healthy Murray could win the MVP and make a run at Super Bowl LVI — +3300 odds are tasty for such a talented team.

16. Dallas Cowboys

2020 record: 6-10

Super Bowl LVI odds: +2800

The Cowboys finally gave Dak Prescott the large contract he deserves. With the contract comes pressure for Prescott to win. Prescott and the offense will be as dangerous as anyone, but if this team wants to win then they need to get a lot better defensively.

17. Minnesota Vikings

2020 record: 7-9

Super Bowl LVI odds: +5000

The Vikings seem to be a few pieces away from being a playoff team. The first priority should be bolstering their pass rush that only tallied 1.4 sacks per game in 2020. With a good offseason, the Vikings could be set to take a large leap forward into one of the top dogs in the NFC.

18. Los Angeles Chargers

2020 record: 7-9

Super Bowl LVI odds: +3300

Can the Chargers establish a winning culture under new head coach Brandon Staley, or will they continue to find ways to lose? QB Justin Herbert put the league on notice with a great rookie campaign. The Chargers also have one of the best defenses led by one of the brightest-young-stars, Joey Bosa. On paper, they should be good, but first, they need to learn how to win.

19. Chicago Bears

2020 record: 8-8

Super Bowl LVI odds: +5000

The Bears are one of the biggest question marks heading into next season. Let’s say they land a quality starter at QB, then they are probably back in the playoffs. But, this team is also a bad offseason away from being a dumpster fire.

20. New England Patriots

2020 record: 7-9

Super Bowl LVI odds: +4000

Does New England trade for Jimmy Graloppolo or stick with Cam Newton? The Patriots should bounce back after a down year, which makes their +4000 odds look pretty juicy. Coach Belichick has more to prove than ever and I think they could be in the playoff picture next season.

21. Las Vegas Raiders

2020 record: 8-8

Super Bowl LVI odds: +7500

Deshaun Watson to the Raiders does not sound far-fetched. But even if they stick with QBs Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota the Raiders will be in the playoff race, especially if they can get better on the defensive side of the ball.

22. Carolina Panthers

2020 record: 5-11

Super Bowl LVI odds: +5000

Tthough Teddy Bridgewater had a solid year, the Panthers seem to still be checking all their options at QB. The biggest concern in Carolina should be that many starting offensive linemen are set to hit free agency. The Panthers are young and should be able to win a few more close games next year.

23. Washington Football Team

2020 record: 7-9

Super Bowl LVI odds: +7500

I think Washington should give QB Taylor Heincke the reigns! At least until they figure out who their QB of the future is. They won the NFC East and nothing is stopping this young team from getting better and doing it again.

24. Atlanta Falcons

2020 record: 4-12

Super Bowl LVI odds: +6600

The Falcons are $31.6 million over the salary cap and have a huge list of needs this offseason. The time is now to trade either Matt Rayn or Julio Jones or both before their value takes a huge hit because of age. But then again, you can win a lot of football games with a healthy Ryan and Jones as they showed five years ago when they made the Super Bowl.

25. Denver Broncos

2020 record: 5-11

Super Bowl LVI odds: +7500

In 2020, the Broncos lost their best player, Von Miller, to a season-ending injury before the season started. Miller will not put them over the top, but progression or trade at the QB position mixed with a healthy roster might.

26. Philadelphia Eagles

2020 record: 4-10-1

Super Bowl LVI odds: +7500

Jalen Hurts will get to show the world his skills as he will be the undoubted starter in Philadelphia. He will not get much of a fair chance to blossom unless the Eagles can drastically get better on the offensive line. The 2021 Eagles seem like a team that will be hard to predict.

27. New York Giants

2020 record: 6-10

Super Bowl LVI odds: +7500

Daniel Jones has shown flashes but he has also shown signs he could be a backup soon. This is the season that will make-or-break Jones’ career in N.Y. With just over $1 million in cap space, the Giants will not be able to provide him the weapons he may need to succeed.

28. Cincinnati Bengals

2020 record: 4-11-1

Super Bowl LVI odds: +12500

Joe Burrow showed why he was the No. 1 overall pick before getting hurt last season. If the Bengals want to keep their stud QB on the field for a whole season then they need to protect him better. The Bengals could be a .500 ball club with some nice additions this offseason.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars

2020 record: 1-15

Super Bowl LVI odds: +7500

New head coach Urban Meyer will most likely start the season with rookie phenom QB Trevor Lawrence under center. It is going to be an interesting story, to say the least, in the next few years in Jacksonville. The duo could win a lot of games together or be part of the revolving door of failure.

30. Detroit Lions

2020 record: 5-11

Super Bowl LVI odds: +15000

Jarred Goff has a chance to prove that he was not the problem in L.A. by making the Lions competitive. I honestly do not think Goff will have much success with the roster and new head coach in Detroit. I tip my cap to the Lions for getting two first-rounders and Goff out of a 33-year-old Stafford though.

31. New York Jets

2020 record: 2-14

Super Bowl LVI odds: +7500

The Jets have the second-overall pick in April’s draft, which could be used to help Sam Darnold or help move him. But I do not think Darnold is the problem. The Jets’ offense needs a total rebuild from last year because their best runner was the 100-year-old Frank Gore and a bunch of nothing at WR.

32. Houston Texans

2020 record: 4-12

Super Bowl LVI odds: +15000

What will happen with Deshaun Watson has dominated the offseason talk? If the Texans decide to trade him then whichever team lands him should take a huge leap in the right direction, at least for the short term. The Texans’ organization seems like a dumpster fire with no first-round pick in 2021, an underwhelming roster, and no cap-space. But, they could salvage their future by trading Watson, which would yield them a ridiculous amount of picks because there are so many teams interested.
