Improvements: Wide Receiver, Linebacker & Cornerback
As the improvements list suggests, the Eagles had a fantastic offseason. On draft night, Philadelphia acquired A.J. Brown via trade. He was immediately locked up long-term with a 4-year, $100 million deal. Brown and DeVonta Smith will be a WR duo to watch going forward.
In addition, Philadelphia Eagles made upgrades at linebacker. They signed Haason Reddick — which comes off an 11-sack season — on a 3-year, $45 million contract. Nakobe Dean is a potential steal as a third-round pick.
They didn’t stop there, the Eagles kept adding. As mentioned, the Giants moved on from Bradberry. Philadelphia was waiting in the wings and snagged the veteran DB. Darius Slay and Bradberry are a formidable CB tandem.
The Eagles upgraded in almost every spot, giving them an A grade.
Stayed the Same: Quarterback
Jalen Hurts remains the starting signal-caller. Entering his third season, the Oklahoma product has been inconsistent
Hurts’ legs have been a weapon, but accuracy down the field has been shaky. After the 2021 season, rumors swirled Philly could be in the market for a new QB. Instead, they went all in on Hurts.
Philly has loaded its roster, giving Hurts every piece necessary. This is the year he has to get it done.
Got Worse: N/A
The Eagles stayed the same or improved in every major position. Keeping a few players could be a poor decision, like K’Von Wallace at starting safety.
However, no roster is perfect. Spots can always be perceived as a weakness.
Grade: A
What is there to dislike about Philly’s offseason? The only flaw is staying with some mediocre starters. It’s boom or bust for Hurts this season. The Eagles made major strides; QB play will decide how far they go.
