The NFC Battlefield
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-8-0) clinched the NFC South title with a come-from-behind win over the Carolina Panthers (6-10-0). The New York Giants (9-6-0) joined the Philadelphia Eagles (13-3-0) and the Dallas Cowboys (12-4-0) in the playoffs after clinching their berth with a win over the Indianapolis Colts. However, the NFC East title remains to be decided. As is the NFC’s No. 1 seed.
The Eagles had the chance to wrap up both the division title and the No. 1 seed last Sunday, only to fall for a second straight week in a 20-10 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Backup Gardner Minshew was unable to maximize the potential of the Eagles’ offense two weeks running, thus underscoring just how important Jalen Hurts really is to the success of Philadelphia’s campaign in 2022.
The Minnesota Vikings (12-4-0) had a shot at the No. 1 seed, but they bottled it in spectacular fashion, falling flat on their faces in a lopsided 41-17 loss to the Green Bay Packers (8-8-0) at Lambeau Field.

Following the defeat, the Vikings fell into third place in the NFC standings as the San Francisco 49ers (12-4-0) climbed into second place with a 37-34 overtime win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Packers, in the meantime, salvaged their playoff hopes for another week. In beating Minnesota, they knocked out the Washington Commanders (7-8-1) and the New Orleans Saints (7-9-0) from the playoff frame.
The Detroit Lions (8-8-0) also came through with a big win over the Chicago Bears to keep their slim hope of a playoff spot alive. As did the Seattle Seahawks, who defeated the New York Jets 23-6 to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
The Lions and the Packers will collide at Lambeau Field on Sunday Night Football in Week 18 to decide their fates while the Seahawks will take on the Los Angeles Rams in their final bid to squeak into the postseason.
The Packers are in with a win while the Lions need a win and Seattle to lose or tie.

The AFC Battlefield
The top of the AFC standings are delicately poised between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs advanced their bid with a 27-24 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday, thus improving to a 13-3-0 record and first place in the standings.
Alas, the Bills (12-3-0) were unable to complete their Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals (11-4-0) due to the terrifying medical emergency that befell Damar Hamlin and resulted in the game being postponed.

Elsewhere, the Jacksonville Jaguars (8-8-0) advanced their bid for the AFC South title with a comprehensive 31-3 win over the Houston Texans. They were helped along by the Cowboys’ win over the Tennessee Titans (7-9-0) on Thursday Night Football,
The Los Angeles Chargers (10-6-0) improved to the fifth seed spot following a 31-10 win over the Los Angeles Rams, while the New England Patriots (8-8-0) kept their playoff hopes alive with a 23-21 win over the Miami Dolphins (8-8-0).
As things currently stand, the Dolphins are sitting outside of the frame in eighth place. They’re level with the Pittsburgh Steelers (8-8-0) but have the tiebreaker. The Steelers advanced their bid for the postseason with a narrow 16-13 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
The New York Jets were eliminated by the Seahawks and the Las Vegas Raiders were eliminated by the Niners.
The final week begins with a pivotal date between the Chiefs and Raiders as Kansas City looks to make its case for the top seed. Later on Saturday, the Titans and Jaguars will face off to decide the AFC South title.
On Sunday, the Steelers will take on the Cleveland Browns, the Patriots are scheduled to take on the Bills and the Dolphins will face the Jets in the final deciding week of the regular season.
