NFL Week 8 RB Prop Picks: Bet on Javonte Williams, Fade Kyren Williams

  • Denver’s Javonte Williams will dominate against Carolina, making him a top NFL prop bet pick
  • Seattle’s Kenneth Walker III also has a favorable matchup against Buffalo
  • Bet on these top RBs but be wary of two star backs at the BetUS sportsbook

They say running backs are a dying position in the NFL. That may be so, but workhorses like Kyren Williams and Nick Chubb (pre-injury) still exist. They are usually solid bets with their NFL game props. But not this week. We are going against these backs relative to their lines. On the flip side, we also offer a pair of backs who could pay dividends thanks to their matchups.

Best, Worst NFL RBs To Bet in Week 8

1. PLAY: Javonte Williams, Broncos (vs Panthers)

Javonte Williams gets to face the Panthers as a reward for his big game against the Saints. Carolina is not only giving up the most fantasy points to running backs but has a historically bad defense. The Panthers are giving up 34.7 points per game with an injury-ravaged defense. Their “starters” consist mostly of second- and third-stringers.

Denver will blow out Carolina and run the clock out. This means that both Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin could have big games. That last game proved that Williams is the stud RB in Denver. He’ll command most of the snaps and have another big game.

Bet Williams to go over his NFL player props’ totals with ease. If he’s on your fantasy team, he’s an obvious must-start.

2. FADE: Kyren Williams, Rams (vs Vikings)

We’re not saying you should avoid Kyren Williams this week. If he’s in your fantasy team, he’s still a start-worthy. But betting online via player props is another thing. For one, Williams has consistently scored touchdowns so his TD prop is juiced to the gills. There is little value here.

Secondly, Williams’ over/under is also high relative to his matchup against Minnesota. The Vikings have a stout rushing defense, allowing the second-fewest yards and third-fewest touchdowns. Fantasy-wise, the Vikings give up the fewest.

There’s also a chance that the Rams fall behind early, which prompts Matthew Stafford to throw the ball more. While Williams is still a factor in the passing game, Cooper Kupp’s return will eat into his targets. Keep an eye on NFL news to make sure Kupp is active. All in all, Williams may underperform his lofty stat totals.

3. PLAY: Kenneth Walker III, Seahawks (vs Bills)

Kenneth Walker celebrated his birthday in style by running all over the Falcons. Behind him, the Seahawks snapped their three-game skid. And in return, they get to face the defensively-challenged Bills. Buffalo has struggled to contain opposing running backs all season. It’s not just Derrick Henry.

Buffalo ranks 30th in yards per carry from opposing RBs at 5.1. It has allowed rushing yards of 120 or more in four of its seven games. And more notably, the Bills give up the second-most fantasy points against running backs.

The stage is set for Walker to continue his hot streak. He’s averaging 4.7 yards per carry this season and already has six rushing TDs. He’s a solid NFL pick to score a TD and go over his rushing totals.

4. FADE: Nick Chubb, Browns (vs Ravens)

Players coming back from season-ending injuries tend to start slowly. That’s why it’s no bold NFL prediction for Chubb to have another pedestrian performance in his second game of the season. The four-time Pro Bowl selection only netted 22 yards from 11 rushing attempts last week. He scored a touchdown but also only had one carry in the second half against Cincinnati.

Now, this was against an average defense at best. Baltimore is a step above this week. The Ravens have one of the stingiest rushing defenses in the NFL. Chubb has also only averaged 64.3 rushing yards in 10 career games against Baltimore. Not great even if he has six TDs.

While Chubb is still a decent bet to score a TD here, we’re going against his over/under NFL line everywhere else. Don’t invest too heavily in Chubb.
