Rams’ Cooper Kupp Hits the Market: Top Landing Spots for the WR

Showing Disappointment, Rams Star WR Cooper Kupp Revealed LA Plans to Trade Him This Offseason

Kupp Wants to Stay, but Rams Want Otherwise

Not even 24 hours after fans were stunned by the Myles Garret trade request shocker, a new NFL news bomb dropped. Out west, the Los Angeles Rams have informed Cooper Kupp, one of the league’s most impactful receivers in recent seasons, of their intention to trade him during this off-season.

Hoping it would be nothing more than another piece of NFL rumors fluff, it didn’t take long for Kupp, one of the Rams’ most beloved stars, to take to social media and put out an official statement, saying: “I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.

Kupp, a player who has only played for the Rams ever since joining the league back in 2017, will now be looking to take his talents, those who led him to win the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl LVI MVP Awards in 2021 somewhere else.

In one of the most important parts of his message, Kupp left a heartfelt thank you message for the LA community, which took in his family in the best way possible, stating: “I have taken so much pride in playing alongside my teammates for the LA community, so thank you for embracing my family and making this such a special place for us.

Simply put, when you think of the LA Rams, you think of Kupp.

As expected, the news that the Rams were looking to trade their star receiver did not sit well with the sporting world. I speak for everybody when I say former Indianapolis Colts and now TV superstar Pat McAfee put it best.

Yes Pat, “HOLY SH*T” indeed.

If LA Doesn’t Want Cooper, Some Other Team Will Surely Do

Even with Super Bowl 59 coming up in a couple of days the news of Kupp’s departure from LA has already started causing shockwaves through the league.

Yes, the primary focus is probably on who everybody’s NFL picks and predictions are for Sunday’s game, but with players like Cooper and Garrett potentially hitting the market this offseason, this gives for plenty more to talk about than the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, and Taylor Swift.

Looking back at Cooper Kupp’s stats from 2021, when he posted what could easily be one of the best seasons for a receiver ever, and knowing this was just four years back, it’s dumbfounding that the Rams would want to see him walk.

But also, it’s the perfect opportunity for a team looking for a bonafide veteran offensive star to beef up their attack and dive headfirst for Kupp.

Kupp is the kind of player who could do wonders for one of the league’s many young quarterbacks. When considering how betting odds shift in the league from season to season, adding a player like Kupp is an automatic odds booster from day one.

Which Teams Stand as Top Landing Sports for Kupp?

Putting aside any worries about Cooper Kupp’s injury issues from the past, it’s safe to say once he hits the market, there will be no shortage of suitors lining up for his talents.

But who should trade for him?

Just like with Garrett, Kupp is a player who deserves to go to a title-contending team; no rebuilding efforts or storylines for him. This is precisely where teams like the Cincinnati Bengals could be a great fit, especially if Tee Higgins walks.

Other squads, such as the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, and Washington Commanders, could join the fray, especially considering they will be in the conversation about the Super Bowl next season.

For now, while LA hit the mark in the NBA by bringing Luka Doncic to the Lakers, they are dropping the ball in the NFL by letting Kupp walk.
