San Francisco 49ers GM Confirms Deebo Samuel Is on the Trade Block
The Niners Are Ready to ‘Honor’ Deebo Samuel’s Desire for a Fresh Start
Deebo Wants Out, 49ers Say Alright
As the San Francisco 49ers prepare for a new season in which title contention feels like a must, NFL news out of Niners camp is that Deebo Samuel, the team’s star wide receiver, and one of the most important pieces in San Francisco’s recent success, even considering former spats with the squad, has requested to be traded, with the team honoring said request.

#49ers GM John Lynch says they will “honor” Deebo Samuel’s request for a fresh start.

Samuel, who has been with San Francisco ever since being drafted by the team with the 36th pick of the 2019 NFL draft, has become a Niners fan favorite, playing in 81 NFL games and amassing 334 receptions, 4,792 receiving yards, 1,143 rushing yards, and 42 touchdowns in total, including a league record 20 rushing TDs.
Throwback to 2021 Deebo!
If he’s actually gone this off season, it was a pleasure to watch Deebo in his prime! #49ers #DeeboSamuel pic.twitter.com/ICNxkIRHtx

As the Niners and Samuel begin the road towards a new start for both parties, and NFL rumors are already stacking up on potential destinations for the star wide-back, what’s next for Deebo, and what can he offer potential suitors?
What Does Samuel Bring to the Table?
Now that the smoke from Deebo’s trade request news has started to clear, and with teams already lining up to try and snag up the former South Carolina standout, what does Samuel have to offer as leverage for a new deal somewhere else?

Even if it’s argued that Samuel is past his prime, when in his groove, Deebo can easily be a difference-making dual-threat receiver with a strong rushing game to pair up next to his next-level receiving skills.
His yards after carry percentage (YAC) still puts him as one of the most reliable receivers in the league, making him a perfect number two receiving option for teams looking to upgrade their passing offense.
George Kittle on the 49ers replacing Deebo Samuel’s role if he’s released or traded:
“You can’t really replace Deebo. I think he’s one of the most unique players in the NFL because of what he can do. He’s the greatest, best YAC guy, besides myself — I’ll hype myself up, I’m… pic.twitter.com/q6K1Wty2pQ

In a way, a team taking Samuel reminds me of when Stefon Diggs joined the Texans. It was well understood that Diggs was not going to Houston to be the team’s saving grace at the receiver position. He went to Houston to become a reliable, savvy veteran option for the team’s young receivers to learn from and grow.

Samuel can offer precisely the same while putting up respectable numbers next season and onward.
Which Teams Can Offer Deebo a Successful Fresh Start?
Once the Samuel trade market opens, there won’t be a shortage of suitors. If you look at BetUS Sportsbook’s betting odds on Samuel’s next team, potential playoff and title contenders are all leading the race, showing that the league is not ready to quit on the wide-back.

If you ask me, out of all the teams bidding for Deebo, three teams stand out as the best option for my NFL picks and predictions: the Washington Commanders at +200 odds, the Denver Broncos at +600, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, also at +600.
And out of those three, Washington makes total and perfect sense here.
Deebo Samuel to the Commanders soon? 👀 pic.twitter.com/wNBFvysfTP

Jayden Daniels already showed what he could do while only having Terry McLaurin as a top-tier weapon at receiver, leading Washington to twelve wins in the team’s NFL schedule.
If you were to take a guy like Samuels and pair him next to “Scary Terry”, with Daniels poised to make his sophomore season a potential MVP award-winning one, there are no losers here besides opposing secondaries.
The ball is in your court Washington.
