Sunny or Not, It’s Curtains for the Dallas Cowboys’ 2024 Season
The Philadelphia Eagles Demolish the Cowboys, Drowning Their Super Bowl Hopes
Another Awful L at Home
On Sunday, the 2024 Dallas Cowboys were hit with the dose of reality that this will be the 29th consecutive season where they do not get to the NFC Championship Game. Their 34-6 loss to the Eagles made NFL news after Dallas (3-6) became the first team to ever trail by 20 points in five consecutive home games, which goes back to their awful NFC wild-card loss against Green Bay in January.
Sun’s Not Shining on Dallas
The sun will still rise tomorrow in Dallas, but it’s curtains for owner Jerry Jones’ team this season. Curtains were also on reporters’ minds after the latest loss following some plays where the Texas sun again played a pivotal role in making it too hard on CeeDee Lamb to catch a touchdown pass when the game was still competitive.
The funniest thing in sports each year remains Jerry Jones deliberately building a stadium that sears the retinas of his own players on an annual basis and costs them touchdowns.pic.twitter.com/yk2OVi1mq0

This even had Lamb saying he was in support of curtains to cover up those sunny spots on the field as NFL games played at ‘Jerry World’ are notorious for this issue.
CeeDee Lamb on not catching the potential touchdown pass from Cooper rush in the sun:
“I couldn’t see.”
Are you in favor of curtains in AT&T stadium?

But Jones had some choice words after the game for reporters when he was in a less than sunny mood to talk about architecture. “By the way, we know where the sun is going to be when we decide to flip the coin or not. We do know where the damn sun is going to be in our own stadium,” Jones said.
Asking Jones about the possibility of putting up curtains only irked him more. “Well let’s tear the damn stadium down and build another one? Are you kidding me?” Jones wasn’t done there. “I’m saying, the world knows where the sun is. You get to know that almost a year in advance. Someone asked me about the sun. What about the sun? Where’s the moon?”

Goodnight, moon. The Cowboys are fading fast, still face a tough NFL schedule with a 3-6 record, and things might be getting worse.
Dak Prescott Headed for Surgery
NFL rumors suggest that quarterback Dak Prescott could have surgery on his partially torn hamstring as early as Monday, which would end his season just months after the Cowboys extended him to the richest deal in NFL history at $60 million annually.

This will leave Dallas with the unenviable position of choosing to start Cooper Rush or Trey Lance, who both played Sunday, the rest of the season. At least the Cowboys can count on Prescott to return healthy for 2025, but they have some serious soul-searching to do this offseason.
They also may be courting a new head coach as Mike McCarthy’s name is on the hot seat for this poor season. Jones didn’t say McCarthy is going to be out, but you never know what an owner who just turned 82 will do to win as soon as possible.
We also know Bill Belichick is looking to return to coaching in 2025, and his mentor, Bill Parcells, was able to work with Jones as his coach in Dallas in 2003-06. Maybe we see Belichick trying to make things work with a team led by Prescott and Micah Parsons in 2025.
But as for the 2024 season, I guess we’ll see you on the dark side of the moon. This one is a wrap.
