Week 9 is officially in the books, and it’s time to unveil this week’s NFC power rankings. Unlike last week, with a solid run of wins across the NFC, we’ve got some real momentum building among the top teams, and they’re setting themselves up nicely for your NFL picks.
Looking forward to Week 10, it seems to get more and more interesting for online betting as we see which NFC squads keep the momentum rolling on their side. Let’s break down which teams are coming in hot and who’s got what it takes to stay on top.
NFC Super Bowl Rankings: Top 6 Contenders
1. Detroit Lions (+500)
Last Week Ranking: 1
While the Kansas City Chiefs hold steady atop the AFC, the Detroit Lions are making their own case as the top team in the NFC, claiming that number one spot again for consecutive weeks. Sitting at 7-1 after a 24-14 win over the Green Bay Packers, the Lions are on a six-game winning streak that only adds to their strong odds to win the NFC North.
Detroit’s offense was right on cue this past weekend, led by quarterback Jared Goff, who threw for 145 yards on an 18-of-22 passing with one touchdown. On the ground, the Lions kept the chains moving, with running backs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs combining for over 130 yards — Montgomery delivering 73 yards on 17 carries and Gibbs adding 65 yards and a rushing touchdown on 11 carries. And of course, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown brought his A-game, picking up 56 yards on seven catches, including a touchdown catch.

On defense, the Lions didn’t exactly dominate the way they have in past games, though they faced a strong Packers squad led by quarterback Jordan Love. While Detroit ultimately pulled off a 10-point win, the defense did give up 273 passing yards and allowed running back Josh Jacobs to tally 95 rushing yards.
Is this a cause for concern? Not really. Green Bay is no pushover — they’re a playoff-caliber team. But for a team that’s leading the NFL in scoring, averaging 32 points per game, Detroit might need a bit more defensive grit if they want to hold down the best odds to win Super Bowl 59.
The Lions made NFL news on Tuesday, shoring up their defense by acquiring edge rusher Za’Darius Smith from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a pair of draft picks. Next week, they’ll face the Houston Texans, who’ll be out for redemption after a rough loss to the Jets.
2. Washington Commanders (+2000)
Last Week Ranking: 3
Kicking things off in the second slot, this week’s No. 2 goes to the Washington Commanders. It might raise a few eyebrows, but after a hard-fought 27-22 win over my struggling New York Giants, the Commanders have now won seven of their last eight games. Call it what you will, but that kind of run deserves a high spot in these rankings.
Offensively, Washington is clicking across the board. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is playing like he’s a seasoned vet, throwing for 209 yards on 15-of-22 passing with two touchdowns in their Week 9 matchup. On the ground, backup running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. led the way with 52 yards on 11 carries while Austin Ekeler added 42 yards on another 11 carries and found the end zone as well.

Defensively, though, Washington has a bit of work to do. Allowing inconsistent Giants quarterback Daniel Jones to put up 174 yards and two touchdowns on 20-of-26 passing? Not exactly what you’d expect from a 7-2 team with great odds to win NFC East.
Next week, the Commanders are up against a dangerous Pittsburgh Steelers squad, a team that’s proven to be a serious playoff contender this season. This will be a critical test for Washington — not only to straighten out their defense but also to keep that offensive momentum rolling as they push into the back half of the season.
3. Green Bay Packers (+2000)
Last Week Ranking: 2
The bronze spot this week goes to the Green Bay Packers. I get it — you’re probably scratching your head since the Packers just took a tough 24-14 loss to the NFC’s top dogs, the Detroit Lions. But here’s the thing: Even with that loss, the Packers are sitting at a solid 6-3, and let’s not forget they had four straight wins before facing Detroit.
Green Bay was overmatched by the Lions. Quarterback Jordan Love threw for 273 yards without getting sacked, though he didn’t manage to connect for a touchdown pass. Running back Josh Jacobs chipped in with 95 yards on 13 carries and wide receiver Jayden Reed stepped up big, grabbing five passes for 113 yards.

In the coming weeks (Week 10 bye), they’ll be on the road facing a Chicago Bears team that brings its own strong defense. This matchup will be a real test for Green Bay, giving the Packers a chance to shake off the Week 9 setback and get back in the win column.

4. Minnesota Vikings (+1800)
Last Week Ranking: 4
At number four, the Minnesota Vikings hold their spot for a second consecutive week. Sure, they’ve lost a bit of that early-season spark, but after their 21-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts, they’ve done enough to stay here for now.
Offensively, Minnesota looked solid — not quite the juggernaut we saw earlier this season, but still showing flashes of that form. Quarterback Sam Darnold led the way, throwing for 290 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Justin Jefferson was the main playmaker, racking up seven receptions for 137 yards while wideout Jordan Addison also chipped in with five catches for 42 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, the Vikings were steady, limiting quarterback Joe Flacco to 179 yards on 16-of-27 passing with zero touchdowns and keeping the Colts’ ground game to just 68 yards across four different players.
While there’s still some skepticism surrounding Minnesota’s ability to reclaim their early-season dominance, they’ve got a real opportunity to turn things around. Week 10 has them facing the struggling Jaguars as four-point road favorites in NFL spreads.
Let’s see if the Vikings can shake off the recent slump and get back to looking like the NFC threat they were just a few weeks ago.
5. Arizona Cardinals (+6500)
Last Week Ranking: 6
Climbing back up to fifth, the Arizona Cardinals make a return to the top five this week. This pick might get a few side-eyes or even a bit of hate, but trust me — this wasn’t an easy decision. The Cardinals have been rolling lately, winning three in a row against some of the league’s toughest defensive teams: the Chargers, the Dolphins and, most recently, a commanding 29-9 victory over the Chicago Bears.
Offensively, Arizona didn’t light up the scoreboard, but quarterback Kyler Murray got it done, throwing for 154 yards on 13-of-20 passing. And, as usual, running back James Conner was right there picking up the slack with 107 yards on 18 carries.
Defensively, the Cardinals were the real story. They put serious pressure on Chicago’s rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, holding him to 217 yards on 22-of-41 passing, no touchdowns, and sacking him six times. They also clamped down on the run game, allowing just 69 rushing yards total and keeping running back D’Andre Swift to only 51 of them.

Love them or hate them, the Cardinals are putting themselves in the playoff conversation. Looking ahead to Week 10, they’ll face off against the New York Jets, with both teams fresh off big wins. This one could be interesting — let’s see if Arizona can keep up the momentum.
6. Atlanta Falcons (+2500)
Last Week Ranking: 5
Rounding out my top six, we have the Atlanta Falcons, holding on despite dropping a spot from fifth. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Jeremy, if the Falcons won, why’d they fall behind the Cardinals?”
Well, here’s the deal: the Cardinals have won three straight games against defensively solid teams while the Falcons, although also on a two-game winning streak, got those wins against teams struggling to find their footing — the Buccaneers and the Cowboys.
That said, the Falcons are still showing up offensively, which they proved yet again in their 27-21 victory over the Cowboys in Week 10. Quarterback Kirk Cousins was sharp, throwing for 222 yards on 19-of-24 passing with three touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Right behind him, running back Bijan Robinson carried the load on the ground, picking up 86 yards on 19 carries, and wide receiver Darnell Mooney led the receiving game with 88 yards and a touchdown off five catches.

But as much as the offense is firing on all cylinders, there’s still work to be done on defense. Allowing backup quarterback Cooper Rush to throw for extra 115 passing yards after starter Dak Prescott exited due to injury, plus surrendering 137 rushing yards, is a big red flag! If the Falcons want to keep their NFC South odds alive, their defense has to tighten up.
Looking ahead, they’ve got another divisional game on deck, facing off against a struggling Saints team in New Orleans. It’s time for the Falcons’ defense to show up and give this offense some backup. Let’s see if they can make a statement.
