I’ve made a few adjustments in my lineup this week, and trust me, you’ll want to pay attention to my NFL predictions — they could help you cash in on those bets. So, let’s save the boring intro for next time, and see which teams are making their way up the Super Bowl rankings!

AFC Super Bowl LIX Rankings: Top 6 Contenders

1. Kansas City Chiefs (+450)

Last Week: 2

I mean, are you really shocked? The Chiefs roll into Week 8, and it’s only fitting they reclaim their throne at the top of this week’s power rankings. Last week, they faced off against the 49ers, and while many, including yours truly, expected a back-and-forth battle, it turned out to be pretty one-sided. Kansas City snagged a 28-18 win at home, remaining the only undefeated team in the NFL at 6-0.

Now, even though the Chiefs pulled away with the victory, it wasn’t your typical fireworks show. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a rather sluggish outing, going 16-of-27 for just 154 yards, with two interceptions and getting sacked twice. The real star was the run game, with running back Kareem Hunt racking up 78 yards on 22 carries and scoring two touchdowns.

Defensively, the Chiefs stepped up, especially on the blitz, keeping quarterback Brock Purdy on his toes, limiting him to just 17 completions on 31 attempts, and forcing him into three interceptions.

Look, the Chiefs may not have delivered their usual offensive fireworks, but they found a way to secure the win. And guess what? Their odds to win Super Bowl 59 just keep climbing. Expect the chiefs to sit here at the top spot for the coming weeks.

2. Baltimore Ravens (+600)

Last Week: 3

Baltimore is on a roll, extending their win streak to five games, and there’s no end in sight! Facing off against a formidable Bucs offense, the Ravens matched fire with fire, sealing a 41-31 victory.

As usual, quarterback Lamar Jackson and powerhouse running back Derrick Henry led the charge. Jackson threw for 281 yards on 17-of-22 passing, racking up five touchdowns, while Henry bulldozed through for 169 yards on just 15 carries. And don’t sleep on Jackson’s legs — he added 52 rushing yards on nine keepers.

Let’s not forget wide receiver Rashod Bateman, who played a big role with four catches for 121 yards and a touchdown. The Ravens continue to show how they might just be the most explosive offensive team in the league.

But here’s the kicker, Ravens fans: while their NFL playoff predictions are looking good, this Baltimore squad still struggles on the defensive end. Sure, they won again, but they also allowed quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Bucs to rack up 370 passing yards and three touchdown passes. If you think that’s Super Bowl material, it might be time to reevaluate your football IQ.

As the season progresses, Baltimore needs to prove they can make defensive stops. We know they can score at will, but defense is just as crucial for winning.

3. Houston Texans (+1400)

Last Week: 1

Sliding into the third spot this week are the Houston Texans. They faced off against a tough Packers team and managed to keep it interesting until the very last second. Unfortunately for Houston, Green Bay kicked a late-game field goal, sealing a 24-22 victory and handing the Texans their second loss of the season, dropping them to 5-2.

Offensively, the Texans weren’t quite themselves, especially in the passing game. The Packers’ defense made it clear they were coming for quarterback C.J. Stroud, limiting him to just 10-of-21 passing for a mere 86 yards. So, where did the contributions come from? Enter running back Joe Mixon, who was the knight in shining armor for Houston, rushing for 115 yards on 25 carries and scoring two touchdowns.

On the defensive side, the Texans didn’t have a terrible outing, but they struggled to contain the Packers’ passing attack. They did manage to sack quarterback Jordan Love twice and grab two interceptions while holding Green Bay’s ground game to just 82 total rushing yards. However, they surrendered 220 yards through the air and three touchdown passes.

In the end, the Texans met their match and were simply outperformed, losing at the last second. Their passing game was put to the test and crumbled under pressure, while their defense didn’t quite live up to its previous stellar performance. Let’s see how the Texans rebound from this tough loss in the upcoming weeks.

 4. Pittsburgh Steelers (+3500)

Last Week: 4

Sliding into the fourth spot, I’m keeping the Pittsburgh Steelers right where they are after a dominant 37-15 win on the road against the Jets, bringing their record to 5-2.

Quarterback Russell Wilson returned to action like he never left, throwing for 264 yards on 16-of-29 passing, tossing two touchdown passes with no interceptions. Not bad for a first game back, right? The ground game was also on point, with running back Najee Harris racking up 102 rushing yards on 21 carries and scoring one touchdown.

Now, let’s talk defense. The Steelers put the Jets’ ground game on lockdown, limiting them to just 54 total rushing yards and one touchdown. As for quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Jets’ pass game? Rodgers threw for 276 yards, but he also tossed two interceptions and managed only one touchdown. So, while the Steelers didn’t completely stifle the passing game, they did a solid job of preventing points on the board.

Looking ahead, the Steelers are set to face the Washington Commanders, who have been on a roll lately. Let’s see if Pittsburgh’s defense can keep rookie quarterback Jaden Daniels in check!

 5. Buffalo Bills (+1100)

Last Week: 6

Taking the number five spot, I’m handing it back to the Buffalo Bills after a much-needed 34-10 home victory against the Titans. Now, I don’t know about you, but at the start of the game, things didn’t look great for Buffalo as Tennessee jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead. But then reality kicked in, and Buffalo started pulling away not long after.

Quarterback Josh Allen seemed to be back in form, throwing for 323 yards on 21-of-33 passing. Meanwhile, running backs Ray Davis and James Cook had solid outings, combining for 73 rushing yards and two touchdowns. On the receiving end, rookie Keon Coleman and new Bills addition Amari Cooper stepped up big time, with both snagging four receptions. Coleman racked up 125 yards while Cooper notched 66 yards, including his first touchdown as a Bill.

Josh Allen is listed at +550 in our odds to win the NFL MVP award.

Defensively, the Bills held their ground, and sure, it was against a struggling Titans offense with Mason Rudolph at the helm, but they still kept Tennessee’s passing game to just 215 yards, sacked Rudolph three times, and picked him off once. As for the Titans’ rushing attack? They didn’t even crack 100 yards, as the Bills limited them to just 89 yards across three rushers.

This win was crucial for the Bills to keep their NFL odds alive, no doubt about it. But heading into Week 8, they’ll hit the road to face the Seahawks. Let’s see if Buffalo can keep the momentum going and pull off a huge win away from home!

6. Denver Broncos (+10000)

Sliding into the number six spot, we’ve got the Denver Broncos! Now, before you start asking questions, let me explain. It was a tough call between the Chargers and the Broncos for this position, but despite the Chargers beating Denver a few weeks ago, the Broncos now sit at 4-3 after walking away with a dominating 33-10 win on the road against the Saints, while the Chargers fell short in Arizona.

Let’s be honest: this game wasn’t exactly the matchup of the week, but nobody expected the Broncos to walk away with a 23-point victory. Quarterback Bo Nix had a solid outing, throwing for 164 yards on 16-of-26 passing, with no touchdowns or interceptions. But it was the ground game that stole the show, with running back Javonte Williams rushing for 88 yards on 14 carries and scoring two touchdowns. And don’t forget Nix’s contributions — he added 75 rushing yards on 10 keepers.

Defensively, the Broncos were a nightmare for New Orleans, holding quarterbacks Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener to a combined 175 passing yards, sacking Rattler six times, and only allowing only one passing touchdown. The Saints’ run game? Yeah, it was on a tight leash, managing just 97 total yards across four rushers, including Alvin Kamara, who finished with a measly 10 rushing yards on seven carries.

If the Broncos keep playing like this, I’ll have no choice but to move them up in my rankings as the season progresses. Let’s see if they can maintain this pace and continue to steamroll their opponents!
