Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown is a matchup nightmare for most teams, but especially with a Lombardi Trophy on the line. Chiefs rookie playmaker Xavier Worthy can line up all over the field, which could pose problems for Philly.

The Eagles are relying on an impressive rookie duo at cornerback with Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell. Here’s what you need to know about how the Chiefs and Eagles wideouts match up against the defensive backs.

Super Bowl 59 Matchups: Who has Edge at Cornerback?

1. Rookies Cooper DeJean, Xavier Worthy in Spotlight

Philadelphia’s DeJean may be the best player at cornerback in the Super Bowl. It will be worth watching to see who DeJean matches up against.

The Chiefs probably like their chances of Xavier Worthy and other receivers a little better facing Quinyon Mitchell or Darius Slay. DeJean earned an 82.7 grade from Pro Football Focus. Both Mitchell and DeJean are playing critical roles Philadelphia’s defense.

DeJean sounds as surprised as anyone about his rookie run to the Super Bowl.

It didn’t even feel real when it happened, when we won the championship game,” DeJean said, per The Athletic. “I don’t know why. It’s just kind of hard to comprehend, you know, that we’re gonna be playing in the Super Bowl.

“I mean, when you first get here and you see all the guys we have in the locker room, and you’re like, we have all the guys to do that, but it’s about bringing everybody together and putting it together on the field.”

As the Chiefs, like most seasons, questions surround the strength of Patrick Mahomes’ weapons. Kansas City landed Worthy in the first round of NFL Draft, but the team is relying on additional veterans whose best days may be behind them.

Kansas City may need a surprise showing from either JuJu Smith-Schuster or DeAndre Hopkins for the Chiefs to please those who are backing Mahomes when they bet online.

2. Chiefs CBs vs Eagles WRs: A.J. Brown Presents Hard Matchup

The Eagles have no shortage of weapons, which is why the struggles of the Philly offense throughout the regular season were puzzling. Kansas City’s corners will have their hands full trying to defend Brown and DeVonta Smith.

Trent McDuffie headlines the Chiefs cornerbacks with an 83.1 PFF grade this season. Jaylen Watson has been much more inconsistent with a 70.9 grade. If you’re looking for a Super Bowl prop, you could do worse than Brown’s anytime touchdown at +160 odds.
