The Philadelphia Eagles likely kissed their chances of earning the top seed in the NFC playoffs goodbye with a loss to the Washington Commanders. A win would have made the Eagles the first of the NFC teams to clinch a division title this season. The bigger piece of NFL news could be that quarterback Jalen Hurts is in concussion protocol.

Four of the seven NFC playoff spots are spoken for heading into the final two weeks of the regular season. Five teams are in the running for the other three spots after Green Bay became the third team from the NFC North to clinch a spot in the playoffs on Monday Night Football.
The Lions remain atop the NFC power rankings followed by the Vikings. The best games involving NFC teams could come on Sunday when the Packers face the Minnesota Vikings and the Atlanta Falcons meet up with the Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football.
Reigning NFC champion San Francisco is the most recent team to be eliminated from playoff consideration. Atlanta has taken over first place in the NFC South and the Los Angeles Rams is in control in the NFC West.
Let’s take a look at the top contenders in the NFC as the Detroit Lions (+400) and Philadelphia Eagles (+600) have the shortest odds to win Super Bowl 59 among NFC teams.
Super Bowl LIX Rankings: Top 6 Contenders in the NFC
1. Detroit Lions (+180 to Win the NFC)
Last Week Ranking: 1
The Lions bounced back from a loss to the Buffalo Bills by cruising past the hapless Chicago Bears as Jared Goff threw touchdown passes to three different players in the 34-17 win. Jahmyr Gibbs went over 100 yards in his first game as the unquestioned No. 1 back after David Montgomery’s injury as the Lions remain in the top spot in the NFC power rankings.
The Lions are listed by the sports betting odds as the road favorite in San Francisco in Week 17 before the much-anticipated matchup against Minnesota in a game that could determine the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs.
When looking at NFL Week 16 player prop bets, keep in mind that receiver Jameson Williams is coming off a career-high 143 receiving yards.
Bet the Detroit Lions to Win Super Bowl 59 (+400)
2. Minnesota Vikings (+500)
Last Week Ranking: 3
It seems safe to say that no 13-2 team has flown under the radar more than this Minnesota team. The winning streak reached eight games for the Vikings after a fourth-quarter touchdown catch by Justin Jefferson lifted the Vikings to a 27-24 win over the Seattle Seahawks.
The Vikings were held under 300 yards in the game and allowed the Seahawks to average six yards per carry, but they still found a way to win.
Despite having just two 100-yard games, Aaron Jones went over the 1,000-yard mark while Jefferson matched his career high with 10 touchdown receptions.
If Minnesota can beat Green Bay at home on Sunday, the Vikings will have a chance to secure the best record in the NFC and win the North North title for the second time in the last three seasons by beating the Detroit Lions in Week 18.
For those who bet online, the Vikings have won their last five games decided by eight points or less.

3. Philadelphia Eagles (+300)
Last Week Ranking: 2
As if losing to division rival Washington on a touchdown with less than 10 seconds left to play wasn’t tough enough, the Eagles saw quarterback Jalen Hurts knocked out of the Week 16 games with a concussion. Check the NFL news updates to see if Hurts can play this week. No. 2 quarterback Kenny Pickett is dealing with a rib injury.

The Philadelphia Eagles can clinch the NFC East title with a win over rival Dallas on Sunday or with a loss by second-place Washington. That might be the last of the regular-season outings for some of Philadelphia’s top players, who might be held out of the regular-season finale against the 2-13 New York Giants.
Saquon Barkley, who is the No. 3 betting choice at +1200 in NFL MVP odds, wasn’t involved in the passing game, but he did have 150 rushing yards with a pair of touchdowns.
Bet the Philadelphia Eagles to Win Super Bowl 59 (+600)
4. Green Bay Packers (+600)
Last Week Ranking: 4
The Packers clinched a playoff spot with an impressive 34-0 win over the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football as four different players scored touchdowns. It wasn’t all good news as receiver Christian Watson suffered a knee injury in the win.
Packers HC Matt LaFleur on Christian Watson’s knee injury:
“There’s some concern there, certainly. We’re going to get more testing done tomorrow. Hopefully, I’ll have an answer for you tomorrow.”

Next up for the Packers is a huge Week 17 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings before Green Bay ends the regular season by facing the Chicago Bears.
When looking at NFL betting trends, keep in mind that Green Bay is 1-3 against fellow NFC North Division teams and 10-1 against the rest of the NFL.
Bet the Green Bay Packers to Win Super Bowl 59 (+1200)
5. Washington Commanders (+1600)
Last Week Ranking: 5
Washington saw rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels throw his fifth touchdown pass of the game with six seconds left to lift the Commanders to the 36-33 win over Philadelphia. Daniels had three TD passes in the fourth quarter as Washington is closing in on a playoff spot.
Daniels also ran for 81 yards in the win. However, the three running backs had 32 yards on 15 carries and that could be a cause for concern.
Receiver Terry McLaurin has a career-high 12 touchdown catches and posted his fourth consecutive 1000-yard season.
The NFL betting lines have Washington favored against the visiting Atlanta Falcons in a Sunday Night football matchup.
Bet the Washington Commanders to Win Super Bowl 59 (+4000)
6. Los Angeles Rams (+1100)
Last Week Ranking: 7
After a high-scoring affair in a win over Buffalo, the Rams have seen a combined 18 and 28 points scored in their last two games.
The Rams have won four games in a row and, with Seattle falling to Minnesota in Week 16, the Rams have sole possession of first place in the NFC West despite being held to 242 yards in a win over the New York Jets.
Remember when rookie running back Blake Corum was supposed to eat into the workload of veteran Kyren Williams? Well, Williams has carried the ball 303 times for 1243 yards and 13 touchdowns compared to 201 yards on 53 carries for Corum.
The Rams end the regular season by facing division rivals Arizona and Seattle at home. LA is -700 to win the division in NFL futures odds.
Bet the Los Angeles Rams to Win Super Bowl 59 (+2800)
