Super Bowl Matchups We’d Love To See
New England Patriots vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers +4500
One doesn’t need to be an NFL savant to understand the draw of this matchup. It speaks for itself – a showdown between Bill Belichick and Tom Brady in a confrontation between former head coach and quarterback, who together formed one of the greatest football dynasties this side of the 21st century and won six Super Bowl titles in nine appearances.
MVP: Tom Brady
Coach of the year: Bill Belichick

New England Patriots vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be a veritable blockbuster showdown that would bring with it the theater of an ongoing debate that is practically impossible to answer unequivocally. Who was more instrumental and integral to the Patriots’ success over the last twenty years? Was it the hoodie-clad, grumpy Belichick? Or was it the charming and charismatic Tom Brady?
According to the NFL odds, a showdown between the Patriots and Buccaneers is a longshot bet at +4500. If the odds are right, the made-for-the-movies clash is unlikely to be.
That rather discouraging market outlook is largely down to how the field stacks up in the NFL playoffs and the matchups in the first round. The Patriots are set to face the Buffalo Bills in the first round of the playoffs, a game that is cornered with the Bills wholeheartedly. The Buccaneers are set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
And yet, despite the seeming improbability of it, it’s the one many NFL aficionados would love to see, hands down.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Green Bay Packers +650
One of the most anticipated matchups during the regular season was the clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers. However, when it came to pass, it fell short of the mark.
Aaron Rodgers was sidelined with COVID-19, so instead of a veritable shootout between the veteran gunslinger and Patrick Mahomes, and two of the hottest teams in the league over the last few seasons, fans were treated to Mahomes vs Jordan Love. Not exactly a ticket draw.
According to the betting online odds, this is THE top matchup and the one with the shortest odds currently. The Chiefs weren’t as dominant as in previous seasons, but they’ve only known AFC Championship competition or better in the Mahomes era. Similarly, the Packers have been to the NFC Championship game in the last two seasons.
Kansas City Chiefs vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers +1200
Rematch anyone? Who doesn’t want to see round two of the Kid vs the Goat? The first meeting between the young, fresh-faced gunslinger Mahomes and the seasoned veteran Brady didn’t quite live up to its billing. Well, the Buccaneers did as they served up a veritable clinic in the 31-9 defeat. Mahomes and the Chiefs simply didn’t show up. Bet they would love another crack at Tampa Bay just as much as fans would love to see it.
Tennessee Titans vs San Francisco 49ers +5000
Super Bowl 56 featuring the Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers is a longshot bet at +5000. It’s not the sexiest matchup or one that springs to mind as readily as some of the others, but it would still be a fascinating contest between two teams that probably don’t get the appreciation or respect that they so richly deserve.
The Titans are a hardworking, gritty, resilient, no-nonsense football team that defied expectations and to clinch the top seed in the AFC. The Niners barely squeaked into the playoffs, but they’re the quintessential dangerous floater in the NFC that nobody wants to play. They’re creative, tough, entertaining, and have a never-say-die attitude that is contagious.
Cincinnati Bengals vs Arizona Cardinals +47500
One need only look as far as the odds board to get a sense of just how far-fetched a Super Bowl 56 matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals would be. With so many debutants in both camps, it would be quite a feat for both these teams to navigate through their respective draws and punch their tickets to Los Angeles for the pièce de résistance of the NFL postseason.

Las Vegas Raiders vs Philadelphia Eagles +75000
The NFL odds are self-explanatory. At a whopping +75000, the probability of the Las Vegas Raiders and the Philadelphia Eagles emerging out of their respective conferences to go head-to-head in Super Bowl 56 is slim to none. In other words, it’s a pipedream. Indeed, any matchup involving these teams is a longshot bet for Super Bowl picks.
