The Weekend Wrap-Up: Flag Pinning Is In, Allen’s on Another Level, & Everything in Between

Rivalries, Barkley and Allen Crushing, F1 Went Chaotic in Qatar: Let’s Talk Weekend Sports

Flag Pinning: A New Trend

Rivalry week came and went this weekend in college football, and damn was it a good one!

From Michigan taking down Ohio State yet again in this year’s edition of “The Game” to Notre Dame and USC putting on a thriller in Cali, and Coach Prime leading his Buffaloes to a 52-0 stomp over Oklahoma State, everybody got theirs.

But you know what made rivalry week especially cool this year? No, not the highlight-reel plays or the emotions poured on the field. Screw all that. Saturday was all about flag-pinning and pissing opponents off because of it.

In college football games around the country, there was action, dominant football, and, above all, bragging rights being taken and paraded around in the tune of flags being pinned in the middle of the field.

Sure, some people are already talking about what a bad look that is for the sport in different NCAAF news sites.

But come on, that’s exactly the kind of pop and swag fans want to see every weekend. So, kudos to flag pinners, I salute you!

Swinney Should Put Fran Brown on His Christmas Gift List

In an NCAAF betting odds upset nobody could’ve seen coming, Syracuse took #6 Miami to the dumps, beating them 42-38 in a thriller at JMA Wireless Dome, home of the Orange.

So, what’s so cool about it? Well, ask Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney.

Thanks to Syracuse’s win over Miami, Swinney’s Tigers will now have a chance to play the SMU Mustangs for the ACC title. Not bad for a Clemson team that South Carolina took down over the weekend.

Just like with the flag pinners, kudos to Syracuse head coach Fran Brown for one of the best quotes of the weekend with the “Congrats, I got you in baby” shout-out to Swinney.

Barkley Continues Rolling to 2,000+ Rushing Yard Record

Another week has gone by in the NFL, and guess what? Yes, Saquon Barkley once again put on a rushing clinic, this time against one of the toughest defenses to run against, the Baltimore Ravens.

With Barkley’s current NFL stats at 1,499 rushing yards plus 11 touchdowns and five games to go in the season, it’s no wonder former rushing great and holder of the league’s rushing yard season record Eric Dickerson is already warming up to the fact of his numbers being eclipsed.

If Josh Allen Doesn’t Win MVP, I Will Riot!

I know I’m not the only one who watched Josh Allen manhandle San Francisco’s defense last night on Sunday Night Football and then wondered if the dude was for real or if this was all just a fantasy.

Don’t worry, though. Allen’s for real, and his -250 odds to win NFL MVP per BetUS lines are a true testament to the season Buffalo’s megastar passer is having.

Becoming the first QB in league history to have a passing TD (2), a rushing TD, and a receiving TD all in the same game, I mean it when I say that if Allen doesn’t win MVP, I will riot.

Is Anybody up for Some F1 Qatar Grand Prix Chaos?

Do you love fast cars? How about fast cars and chaos all in one? If all this rings a bell, this weekend’s F1 Qatar Grand Prix would’ve been right up your alley.

After multiple collisions early in the race made the safety car hit the tracks, slowing down the action from the get-go, penalties flew left and right as Max Verstappen cruised to a win after securing his fourth F1 title last race.

While the drivers’ title is secured, next weekend’s final season race in Abu Dhabi will decide which team will win the Constructors championship, with McLaren and Ferrari ready to duke it out for the title.

One Last Lap Around the Block

Hey! The Sixers Won!

Here’s something you don’t see every day, at least this season. The Philadelphia 76ers beat the Detroit Pistons on the road, reaching a 4-14 record for the season.

Live it up Philly; a win is still a win.

Would You Look At That, the Jets Lost Again

There have been five games this season, including this weekend’s against the Seattle Seahawks, in which Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets’ starting passer and an NFL rumors favorite target, has had the ball in potential game-winning situations.

Five.

Do you know the team’s record in those games? Yes, 0-5.

After losing once again this week, this time to Seattle, somebody, please shut off the Jets once and for all!
