These Are the Three Must See Matchups of the NFL’s Week 1
The NFL Schedule Gives Us Electrifying Matchups to Start the Football Season
Football is Almost Back
We are so close to real NFL games as the 2024 season gets underway with the path to Super Bowl LIX. Week 1 of the new NFL season is to adults what Christmas morning was to us as kids.

Week 1 can always be dramatic too as we learn which teams are about to surprise us in ways both good and bad. Last year in Week 1, the Lions made NFL news when they upset the Chiefs at home on opening night, the Chargers and Dolphins played an incredible shootout, and we lost Aaron Rodgers just a few snaps into his Jets debut.
What to watch for this year? We picked out our three must-see matchups on the Week 1 NFL schedule.
What Is the First Game of the NFL Season?
You can’t go wrong kicking things off Thursday night with a rematch of the AFC Championship Game between the Ravens and Chiefs. It was a 17-10 final after the top two defenses grinded it out in January.
Will the Ravens run the ball more than 6 times with their running backs now that they added Derrick Henry? Is it even advisable to lean on him too much when you’ll need him in January when he’s 31 years old? That’s an interesting chess match for the Ravens.

The Chiefs have a new speedy receiver in rookie Xavier Worthy, but despite NFL rumors of a looming suspension, Rashee Rice should be the No. 1 wideout to start the year. Of course, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are the true stars of the offense, and we’ll see how Andy Reid attacks that defense without coordinator Mike Macdonald, who left for Seattle.
First NFL Game in Brazil
On Friday night, we’ll see the first ever NFL regular season game in Brazil, and it’s a great NFC matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles.

The Packers have Super Bowl aspirations after a hot finish by quarterback Jordan Love, the highest-paid player in NFL history now. He’ll be ready to go with a new running back in Josh Jacobs and the Packers have a new defensive coordinator.
The Eagles suffered arguably the biggest collapse in NFL history last year, going from 10-1 to no division title and getting bounced in the wild card round. They have new coordinators (Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio) and still have Jalen Hurts throwing to A.J. Brown. But we’ll see how that Tush Push fares after center Jason Kelce retired.
Could be a fun shootout in Brazil.
Sunday’s Best NFL Game
The NFL crushed the prime-time schedule for Week 1 as Jets-49ers is a good Monday night game too with Aaron Rodgers against his nemesis.
But what about Sunday afternoon? Our top game is Steelers at Falcons as we get to see the debuts of Russell Wilson and Kirk Cousins with their new teams. New Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Arthur Smith returns to Atlanta after the team fired him, so that’s a nice subplot.

Does Wilson have anything left in the tank? We’ll also see T.J. Watt chased Cousins around in his first game since he tore his Achilles. The Falcons are favored to win the NFC South but losing Week 1 at home to the scrappy Steelers would be a bad start.
Can’t wait to watch them all.
