Can Tennessee Waltz Into AFC's Top Seed?

Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans: Betting Guide

Titans Looking To Stay Home For The Postseason

Tennessee has quietly moved atop of the AFC standings, despite All-Pro running back Derrick Henry being sidelined since a Week 8 victory over Indianapolis. Henry was “designated to return” from injured reserve, and expected to practice this week as he gets closer to his return from a fractured foot. He’s a longshot to be activated for this game, though the Titans are hoping to have him back for the postseason.

Even without Henry, the Titans have gone 5-3, winning the division and putting themselves in position for home-field advantage throughout the conference playoffs. The Tennessee defense has allowing just 39 points as the Titans have gone 3-1 down the stretch.

Texans Trying To Finish With A Flourish

Teams out of the playoff picture are usually counting down the days to the offseason, but the Texans have shown some life over their last three games. There was a win over the Los Angeles Chargers, who are fighting for a playoff berth. Granted, last Sunday afternoon ‘s setback at San Francisco was ugly, but coach David Culley would like to see his team finish off with a win, especially in front of the home crowd.

The Texans have to do better than the 222 yards of total offense they managed against the 49ers. Rookie quarterback Davis Mills has shown improvement, throwing for six touchdowns over the last four weeks. He’ll get his first crack at the Titans after Tyrod Taylor started in the first meeting with Tennessee.

Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans Head to Head

The Texans pulled the road stunner in the first meeting between these division rivals this season, winning, 22-13, in Week 11. That snapped a three-game losing streak in the series for Houston, though both of last season’s meetings were one-score affairs, including one that went to overtime.

Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans Betting Lines

Despite losing to Houston in the first matchup this season, the Titans are 11-point favorites in this contest. The NFL lines have the over/under for the game set at 43 points. Betting on the moneyline will get you Tennessee at -515, while Houston is +415.

Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans Prediction

The Titans are playing very well, especially defensively, and would love to secure a first-round bye and home-field advantage for the AFC playoffs with a win. Henry won’t (probably) play in this one, but quarterback Ryan Tannehill should be better than the four-interception game he had in the first meeting against the Texans.

The Tennessee defense is going to play big in this one, keeping the Houston offense in neutral as it was last Sunday.  The Titans have won their last two over sub-.500 teams by a total of 51 points, and that trend continues in this one as well. When making your NFL bets, go with the Titans to win easily.
