Big NFL Contracts Keep Rolling In, SGA Shines MVP-Style vs. Denver, Pereira Loses Title at UFC 313 & More
Myles Garrett and the Browns Reunite
Remember when Cleveland Browns superstar defensive end Myles Garrett broke the internet amid NFL rumors that he wanted to leave Ohio to join a title-contending squad this coming season?
Dark times took over Cleveland, as Garrett, the team’s most important player and pivotal building block, was adamant about not wanting to run it all back with the Browns and was unwilling to listen to any offers, pleas, or anything from the team.

Well, rejoice, Browns fans, as over the weekend, it was announced that the team had managed to reverse Garrett’s decision, signing him to a four-year contract extension averaging $40 million per year, with $123 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league.
From trade to truce and beyond: the Browns and Myles Garrett reached agreement today on a record contract extension that averages $40 million per year and includes $123.5 million in guaranteed money and now makes him the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history, sources tell ESPN.… pic.twitter.com/scNWJH2vFX

Wait, wasn’t Maxx Crosby the highest-paid-non-QB? Get with the program people! That was last week; Garrett is now the top dog!

All that’s left now is for Garrett and the Browns to make good on their promise of going for the title.
Josh Allen Just Got 330 Million Reasons to Love Buffalo
Not to outstage Garrett’s news or anything, but in the most shocking piece of NFL news this weekend, the Buffalo Bills have reached a record-breaking, six-year, $330 million contract extension, with $250 million fully guaranteed with current league MVP, quarterback Josh Allen.
Yes, you read right, $330 million for six years, with $250 million fully guaranteed.
While there was no rush to get a deal done for the Bills or Allen, this move clearly shows that Buffalo could not be happier with Allen and what he’s done for the team. Coming off his first MVP season after leading the team to its fifth straight AFC East divisional title, all en route to another AFC Championship game appearance, Allen will now be linked to the Bills through the 2030 season.
Like with Garrett, all that’s left is for Allen and Buffalo to finally beat their title-denying demons and go for their first Super Bowl. With Buffalo’s early Super Bowl LX betting odds at +750, it might be a good future bet to start targeting.
Big Name WRs Found New Homes
Staying with NFL players getting paid, as the league’s free agency period is about to start, a couple of the biggest names in the wide receiver position have officially found new homes over the weekend.
Davante Adams, who was recently cut by the New York Jets after a one-and-done season at MetLife, will now be taking his talents to the West Coast, where the Los Angeles Rams will welcome him to the tune of a two-year, $46 million deal with $26 million fully guaranteed.
As the Rams continue to wait on which team will pick up Cooper Kupp, they wasted no time in finding a top-tier replacement to pair with Puka Nakua and Matthew Stafford.
Meanwhile, as Adams joins the NFC West, another stud receiver from the division is packing his bags. DK Metcalf, formerly with the Seattle Seahawks, was traded by the team to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a second-round pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL draft.
Following the trade, Pittsburgh wasted no time offering Metcalf a five-year $150 million extension, thus securing their new, deep pass, big play target to join George Pickens, who is eligible for a contract extension this offseason as he enters the last year of his rookie deal.
Start Taking SGA’s MVP Season More Seriously
As the race for the playoffs and title contention in the NBA continues, one thing that was made abundantly clear this weekend is that when it comes to the MVP race, the award’s overwhelming favorite resides and plays in Oklahoma, his name being Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Even while analysts try to make this race seem wide open, following SGA’s record 40-point performance against Nikola Jokic’s Denver Nuggets yesterday, any argument made against the Thunders’ star’s -700 odds to win NBA MVP is as valid as a 76ers title run this season.
It’s borderline baffling that some people still think there’s a race for MVP this season, especially considering SGA’s stats.
Say it with me, as NBA picks and predictions: Shai will be MVP at the end of the season.
Duke Takes Season Series Against UNC
With this season’s March Madness Tournament continuing to take shape as the wait winds down, the Duke Blue Devils decided to show everybody what is up, taking down their historic rivals, the University of North Carolina, by 82-69 at Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill this Saturday.
Following yet another strong performance from players like Kon Knueppel, Sion James, Tyrese Proctor, and NBA betting odds favorite to be the No.1 pick in next season’s draft Cooper Flagg (-1600), Duke showed that the road to the National title will have to go through them.
It should be no surprise that the Blue Devils woke up today as the No.1 ranked team in the country according to AP, winning 28 out of 31 NCAAB games this season, and making it a record 146 weeks ranked as the best team in the country throughout history.
All heil Duke, and more importantly, fear Duke.
Pereira Drops Title at UFC 313
The main event of UFC 313 did not disappoint in the slightest. Magomed Ankalaev showed why he is touted as one of the absolute best pound-for-pound fighters in MMA, beating former light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira by decision after going the complete five rounds this Saturday Night.
Even though the event experienced a few stream issues that caused viewers to flare up, it’s safe to say the fights did not disappoint one bit, with Justin Gaethje and Rafael Fiziev’s rematch earning the “Fight of the Night” nod.
The only question now is, who’s next in line for Ankalaev?
Until next week, keep it classy peeps!
