2024 NFL Draft 2nd Overall Pick Odds Are Headlined by Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, JJ McCarthy

Jayden Daniels can easily be considered the literal definition of a lock for the top spot, but the battle for the #2 pick is a bettor’s paradise. After being linked to quarterbacks like North Carolina’s Drake Maye and LSU’s Jayden Daniels, what will Dan Quinn’s team do once they are on the clock?

With quarterbacks dominating the draft spotlight, it’s clear Washington will be out hunting for a franchise quarterback to lead the team for years to come. So, who will they end up snagging up at #2?

The Betting Odds Suggest The Commanders Will Draft Jayden Daniels

How about we play a game of calling things for what they are? Daniels (-140) is a statistical monster, a true dual-threat weapon who’s been terrorizing defenses and rewriting record books. If you need any proof, just look at his numbers from last season – it’s like he was playing on cheat mode!

First in the nation in every advanced QB metric you can think of, with a mind-boggling 40 touchdown passes and only four interceptions. Oh, and he casually ran for ten more scores, just for kicks, all while playing in the SEC, one of the toughest conferences in college football.

Daniels is a cerebral assassin, a student of the game who should benefit greatly from continuing to polish his game under the tutelage of offensive guru Kliff Kingsbury. While the top pick might be a foregone conclusion, don’t even act shocked if Daniels crashes the party at No. 2

Could Washington Draft Drake Maye over Jayden Daniels?

Once the Commanders are on the clock, Maye (+110), the prototypical pocket passer with crazy stats from his Tar Heel days, could sneak up from behind and end up being taken with Washington’s No.2 pick. The odds have been shifting on a constant basis lately, with Maye’s stock seemingly rising and falling by the day.

With 4,321 passing yards and 38 touchdown passes, alongside seven rushing scores and a spot in the top 5 of the FBS rankings in his sophomore year, before seeing his stats take a dip last season, you can’t deny the intrigue factor Maye brings to the table.

At one point, he was even touted as a lock at #2, but now, it seems like the race for that pick is going to be very tight between him and LSU’s Daniels. So, what gives? Is this all just a smokescreen, or are the Commanders really torn between these two talented signal-callers? One thing’s for sure – the Patriots at No. 3 will be watching with bated breath, hoping to snag up whichever guy falls into their lap.

What Are JJ McCarthy’s Odds Of Going #2?

The NFL might be higher on J.J. McCarthy (+1600) than anyone else. Sure, he might be a bit of a project, but the kid’s got stats that’ll make your head spin – 44 TDs, just 9 Ints, and a ridiculous 72.3% completion rate in 2023. Oh, and did I mention he went 27-1 as a starter, with a national title to boot?

With impressive stats, a solid frame, and a winning pedigree, McCarthy could be the rough diamond that the Commanders can’t pass up.
