2024 NFL Week 2 Odds: Top Two Over the Total Picks
- The Los Angeles Rams have one of the most talented offenses in the league and should be able to show that against the Arizona Cardinals.
- The Detroit Lions offense was special last season, and with two players getting more significant roles, it could be even scarier in 2024.
- Looking at last season’s stats and teams’ moves in the offseason can help when making early NFL predictions.
While we are still in the preseason, looking ahead at individual games and NFL lines for the regular season is difficult. So much can happen in the preseason that changes how a team is viewed for the better or worse.

However, it is hard not to take a peek ahead because BetUS Sportsbook already has odds on the spreads and over/under on every game during the regular season. Furthermore, it helps bettors be aware of any line shifts and catch some of them early before they change too much, making the odds less favorable.
Picking against the spread before there has even been a snap in the 2024 regular season can be challenging. But betting on the over/under seems a lot simpler. Looking at some of the over lines, there are some options, especially in Week 2, where there could be opportunities for high-scoring games.
2 Over Bets for 2024 NFL Week 2
1. Rams vs Cardinals, Over 48½
According to NFL expert picks, it seems clear which team should win this game. The Arizona Cardinals’ odds of making the playoffs this season are set at +300, while the Los Angeles Rams made it in 2023, and their odds of making it back in 2024 are set at -110.
However, the potential for this game to go over seems like a real possibility. For one, the Rams had one of the top offenses last season, averaging the eighth-most points per game. That might be even higher in 2024, considering Cooper Kupp only played 12 games last year.

This Rams team has always had an explosive offense under head coach Sean McVay, and with Matthew Stafford proving to be one of the top quarterbacks in the league, they can always put up points. Previously, the driving force of the offense had been primarily the connection between Stafford and Kupp. But now, after Puka Nacua had the best rookie wide receiver season ever, this offense is even deadlier. Not to mention, running back Kyren Williams broke out last season and became a Pro Bowler.
In the last game against the Cardinals in 2023, the Rams scored 37 points, hitting the over for NFL odds, with the line set at 45. Given the talent on the Rams’ offense and an effort to improve the offensive line this offseason, the over is in play in Week 2. Plus, the Cardinals allowed the second most points per game last season and should continue to struggle on defense.

On the other hand, the Cardinals‘ offense should be better in 2024. Despite only starting the last eight games of the 2023 season, Kyler Murray showed he can still be a top quarterback. Murray threw for 1,799 yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions. That was all while his wide receiver core was far from exciting. But now, he will have the fourth-overall pick in the 2024 draft, Marvin Harrison Jr., as his No.1 option, which should be a big boost for the Cardinals’ offense, helping this become a more high-scoring game.

2. Buccaneers vs Lions, Over 48½
Last season, if you had bet on the Detroit Lions to hit the over in every game, you would have done well for yourself in NFL picks. They hit the over more than any other team in the NFL in 2023, doing so in 13 games, and that should carry over into 2024, especially when the Lions face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.
In 2023, the Lions had one of the most potent offenses in the league, ranking third in yards and fifth in points per game. Quarterback Jared Goff had an exceptional season, throwing for 4,575 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, which earned him a new contract this offseason. His favorite receiving target, Amon-Ra St. Brown, also got a new contract after 1,515 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023. Rookie tight end Sam LaPorta also had a big season, with 889 yards and 10 touchdowns, and is looking for an even bigger 2024.

However, the Lions offense could be even better in 2024 because of two players, Jameson Williams and Jahmyr Gibbs. As a rookie running back last season, Gibbs already tore up the NFL for 945 rushing yards and 11 total touchdowns. But he never became the full-time starting running back. This should be the season in which that happens, and the ball will be put in the hands because he is arguably the Lions’ most explosive player. Williams is very similar, with an insane upside. The Lions drafted the wide receiver 12th overall in 2022, but injuries have kept him off the field. These two big playmakers will have more prominent roles in 2024, and they can shine in Week 2 against the Buccaneers.
A big reason for that is that despite the Buccaneers allowing the seventh fewest points per game, they did give up the 10th most yards. The Lions scored 31 points in the Divisional Round in the playoffs last season against the Buccaneers and should be able to replicate that.
The Buccaneers‘ offense is also part of why NFL betting should pay attention to this game being an over. While it took some time for Baker Mayfield and the offense to start clicking in 2023, it eventually did, leading to a playoff win. Mayfield will still have its top two receiving threats, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, which should be a concern for a young Lions secondary, which is still the team’s biggest weakness.
