This year’s NFL Draft is shaping up to be a close race for who goes No. 1 overall in April. Unlike most years, when one or two players dominate the NFL odds board at BetUS, four incoming rookies could reasonably be taken first overall.

Quarterback Cameron Ward of Miami is the favorite, but the Colorado duo of Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders and Penn State’s Abdul Card all have less than 5/1 odds to be the first player off the board. This provides better betting value than most NFL drafts in the past.

With that in mind, let’s jump into my first mock draft for this year and make an NFL prediction on who is chosen first by the Tennessee Titans.

2025 NFL Draft Odds – No. 1 Overall Pick

  • Cameron Ward -140
  • Abdul Carter +200
  • Travis Hunter +450
  • Shedeur Sanders +450

Best Bets to Go No. 1

4. QB Cameron Ward (-140) – High Ceiling, High Risk

Ward is the top betting favorite, but that doesn’t mean he’s a lock. The Miami quarterback has all the tools: big arm, mobility and off-script playmaking. He’s a walking highlight reel with ridiculous arm angles and the ability to make tight window throws.

But Ward’s biggest strength is also his biggest flaw — he’s a gunslinger to a fault. He takes unnecessary risks, holds the ball too long and puts his team in bad situations. That’s not what you want in a No. 1 pick unless you’re absolutely sure you can fix his decision-making.

For a Titans team with a shaky offensive line, rolling the dice on a high-variance quarterback feels like a dangerous move.

Bet On Cameron Ward (-140)

3. CB/WR Travis Hunter (+450) – The Ultimate Playmaker

Travis Hunter is a rare two-way talent, excelling as both a cornerback and wide receiver. He has elite man coverage skills and could thrive in an NFL scheme that lets him play with vision on the quarterback.

Some teams might draft the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner as a receiver, others as a corner, and a few could use him in a hybrid role. While he’s arguably the best player in the class, cornerbacks rarely go No. 1. If the Titans traded down, Hunter would be a strong candidate, but at first overall, it’s a long shot for an online bet.

2. QB Shedeur Sanders (+450) – A Long Shot, But…

Shedeur Sanders played under his Hall of Fame father, Deion Sanders, and turned Jackson State and Colorado into contenders. He’s a precise pocket passer who throws with elite touch, timing and anticipation.

But there are concerns. He holds onto the ball too long, leading to unnecessary sacks and pressures. He also lacks the arm strength and out-of-structure magic that separates No. 1 overall quarterbacks from the rest.

The fit in Tennessee isn’t ideal, and it’s hard to see him jumping Ward or Carter. If another team traded up, maybe there’s a chance, but at +450 in NFL futures odds, there’s not enough value to take the risk.

1. DE Abdul Carter (+200) – The Best Value Pick

Tennessee needs a pass rusher. Per NFL betting trends, the Titans ranked 29th in pressure rate last season, and their front seven lacks a true game-wrecker. That’s where Abdul Carter comes in.

Carter is a freak athlete with a 4.48 40-yard dash, 10-foot, 7-inch broad jump and elite first-step explosiveness. He was initially an off-ball linebacker but transitioned to edge rusher in 2024, and the results were dominant. He wrecked game plans with his speed and hand technique, showing flashes of Micah Parsons-like versatility.

Bet on This Best Value Pick: DE Abdul Carter (+200)

Why Carter Fits at No. 1

  • Elite pass rusher who can generate immediate pressure
  • Fills the Titans’ biggest need
  • NFL-ready despite only one full season as an edge rusher

While he’s not a polished run defender yet, Carter has the range and sideline-to-sideline burst to develop into an every-down force. Tennessee drafted Jevon Kearse in 1999 and Derrick Morgan in 2010, but Carter has the potential to be its best first-round edge selection yet.

At +200 odds, Carter is the NFL best bet on the board to become the top pick on draft night.
