NFL games are usually defensive struggles or offensive outbursts. But sometimes it can be a bit of both with defenses (and special teams) scoring while NFL scores go over the total. It’s 49 points for this Thursday Night Football match between NFC West rivals San Francisco and Seattle. And despite injuries, these NFL game prop bets tell the story of why this will be a high-scoring defensive duel.
3 49ers vs Seahawks Prop Bets for Thursday Night Football
1. A Special Teams or Defensive Touchdown
Seattle and San Francisco are rivals but had plenty in common last week. They lost as favorites per NFL odds but also scored defensive touchdowns. The Seahawks stopped the Giants at the goal line and returned a fumble for a 102-yard touchdown while San Francisco blocked a field goal and scored a TD. New York also blocked a Seattle field goal and returned it for a score. Why can’t we see something similar when these teams meet?

Injuries are whittling these teams. But Seattle still leads the NFL in pressure rate (33.3%) with 20 quarterback hits and 17 sacks. 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been under siege for most of the season because of inconsistent offensive line play. Geno Smith also got sacked seven times against the Giants. Either could cough up the football or throw a pick-6.
Alternatively, neither Seattle nor San Francisco have elite kick or punt return-stopping units. And with Jake Moody injured, San Francisco may inadvertently give Seattle’s returners less turf to cover. This NFL prop bet could just cash again for this game.

2. Both Teams Hit 20 Points
San Francisco has won five straight games against Seattle largely because of its defense, but has also put up nearly 30 points per game. And we don’t see the 49ers holding Seattle to fewer than 17 points per game as they did during the streak. The Niners are getting gashed on the ground and could be without both safeties.
James Conner recorded 19 carries for 86 yards while forcing 9 missed tackles, tied for the 4th most by any player in a game this season.

Seattle has two solid running backs and they could take turns putting yards on San Francisco. The 49ers have also seen their defense crumble in the second half. They allowed the final 13 points in a 24-23 loss to Arizona. The Seahawks can score consistently over four quarters.
Looking at the best NFL props, getting -110 on Seattle and San Francisco to both score at least 20 points is a solid wager. Don’t expect a one-sided butt-kicking from San Francisco. The gap between these teams is closer than ever.

3. San Francisco, First to 10 Points
While Seattle can keep up with San Francisco, the 49ers are still our NFL pick to win. The 49ers may collapse in the second half, but they are still one of the best first-quarter and first-half teams. San Francisco has won eight of its last 11 first-half moneylines. It has outscored opponents 29-13 in the first quarter and 72-38 in the first half. The 49ers will reach 10 points first.
San Francisco has also led 24-3, 14-3 and 23-21 in their last three first halves against Seattle. It scored touchdowns in the first quarter, which is a solid side bet to make here as well. The Seahawks can score consistently and they can pressure quarterbacks. But the defense is also banged up and can be prone to getting lit up as Jared Goff and Daniel Jones proved.
Purdy hasn’t lit the world on fire this season. But he’s still one of the NFL’s better quarterbacks, especially with Brandon Aiyuk turning it up at receiver. San Francisco, in previous seasons, also knows how to push back when it is against the wall. The 49ers crushed the Jaguars 34-3 after losing three straight last season. This is where we expect San Fran to start with a vengeance.
