- Miami is favored to beat the New York Jets again.
- Rams-Bills matchup could land over.
- Find my top NFL Week 14 picks for the AFC East ahead.
The Buffalo Bills might have ended the playoff hopes of reigning NFC champion San Francisco with a dominant win on Sunday Night Football and in the process clinched their fifth consecutive AFC East title. The BetUS sportsbook odds list the Bills as a road favorite against the Los Angeles Rams this week.
With the New England Patriots having a bye week, the only other AFC East matchup in Week 14 features the New York Jets hitting the road to face the Miami Dolphins.
My early NFL weekly predictions begin with the first of two games between the Dolphins and the Jets in the next five weeks. Miami (5-7) is two games out of the final playoff spot in the AFC with five games left to play.
Week 13 was one of near misses as the Dolphins-Packers and 49ers-Bills games fell one point short of landing over the total to keep us from a 3-0 mark in our Week 13 picks.
Let’s take an early look at the games involving AFC East teams this week for our NFL bets today.
3 Best NFL Week 14 Picks in the AFC East
1. Miami Dolphins (-6.5) Home Favorite: Bet on Dolphins to Cover the Spread
The Jets were done in by one of their former players on Sunday with a 92-yard interception return by Leonard Williams helping the Seattle Seahawks rally from a 26-21 win. The Jets (3-9) are guaranteed to finish with a losing record for the ninth season in a row.
A loss would mean that the Jets would have three consecutive double-digit loss seasons three years in a row for just the third time in franchise history. Miami still has a chance to make the playoffs, but a loss in Week 14 would be rather damaging to those hopes.
Per Jets vs Dolphins betting trends, Miami has won seven of the last eight meetings with the Jets. The last time the Jets played on the road against the Dolphins, Miami rolled to the 30-0 win.

Expect a closer game on Sunday but when making NFL expert picks, go with the Dolphins to cover as 6.5-point favorites against a Jets team that has lost its last six games decided by seven points or less.

2. Rams vs Bills Over 48.5: Bet on the Total
Even though Buffalo became the first team to clinch a division title during the 2024 season, there is still plenty for the Bills to play for. Buffalo trails two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City by one game in the race for the best record in the AFC. The only loss for the Chiefs came against the Bills so if the teams finish tied for the best record, Buffalo would get home-field advantage and a first-round bye.

Buffalo is 3-0 both outright and against the NFL spread as a road favorite this season with two of those games landing over the total.
The Bills just put up 35 points on a San Francisco team that ranks sixth in NFL defense. Now they meet up against the Rams, one of four teams to give up at least 350 yards and 28 points per game.
The Rams are just a game out of first place in the NFC West. Getting into the playoffs as a division champion might be a more reasonable path than earning a wild-card spot, so look for the Rams to play this like a must-win game. The Bills vs Rams betting line has the total at 48.5 – go with the game to land over that number.

3. Bet Dolphins to Make the Playoffs: +350 in the NFL Futures Odds
Those who bet online and believe that the Dolphins can still make the playoffs would be wise to jump on Miami at +350 to earn a playoff spot. That number could very well change based on the result of the Denver-Cleveland Monday Night Football game.
Denver still has to play the Los Angeles Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs. There is also a game left against an inconsistent but talented Cincinnati Bengals team.
Miami only plays one more game against a team with a winning record so while there is some ground to make up to catch Denver or Baltimore for the final playoff spot, it could still happen. Take the chance on the Dolphins in NFL futures odds.
