AFC South Week 17 Prop Bets, Picks: Run with Etienne

The AFC South has a logjam with the top three teams, but even with a full push for the playoffs on the line, it’s smart to focus on weekly prop bets over Super Bowl odds. None of the three teams atop the AFC South (Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans) look to be ready to emerge as legitimate contenders. Thankfully, we have a few great prop betting spots worth targeting.

Here’s a look at some Vegas NFL odds to consider!

Travis Etienne Gets Back in the End Zone

After a red-hot stretch earlier in the year when Travis Etienne scored two touchdowns in three consecutive games, he’s been mostly quiet since. He did score in back-to-back weeks three games ago but had a four-game drought before that and enters this game having not scored in back-to-back weeks.

The Panthers’ defense has been excellent against the pass and struggled in a big way to keep opposing running back out of the end zone. They’ve allowed a whopping 18 rushing touchdowns, and this looks like a home run spot for Etienne to find his way back into the end zone at plus money. Tack on the impact this game has on the Jaguars and the NFL playoff predictions, and there’d be no better time for the running back to step up with a monster performance.

NFL Pick: Travis Etienne anytime TD scorer +100

Great Matchup for Titans TE Chigoziem Okonkwo

Last week Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo took advantage of a great spot while totaling six catches for 63 yards and one touchdown. Now, we find him in another top matchup against a team that’s struggled to stop tight ends. The Texans rank in the bottom five of the NFL against opposing tight ends, and Okonkwo has been rolling ahead of this game.

The Titans tight end has totaled 63, 36, 46, 62, and 45 yards over the past five games, and his over/under is set at just 37½ against the Houston Texans. Okonkwo checks in as one of my favorite NFL prop bets of the week in this spot.

NFL Pick: Chigoziem Okonkwo over 38 receiving yards (-108)

Targeting Texans WR Noah Brown in C.J. Stroud’s Return

Even in a brutal matchup last week against the Cleveland Browns defense with Case Keenum and Davis Mills throwing him the ball, Noah Brown somehow managed to nearly cross the 40-yard receiving mark. While that’s far from his best showing, it does highlight the struggles Houston faced against the Browns.

Fortunately, this week, the Texans have C.J. Stroud back under center, and the biggest beneficiary of that should be Brown. Brown had back-to-back games with North of 150 receiving yards in early November when he was given an extended opportunity and Stroud was under center. Now, with Tank Dell out and Brown holding down the slot position here, he should be primed for a big showing and his over/under is only set at 42½ yards.

NFL Pick: Noah Brown over 43 receiving yards (-113)

Questions Of The Day

Which team has the best opportunity to win the AFC this season?

The Jacksonville Jaguars should still get the edge here, and if Trevor Lawrence is healthy enough, they’ll remain the favorites to win the AFC South.

Which team has put together the most disappointing performance in the season?

The Jacksonville Jaguars are arguably one of the best up-and-coming teams in the NFL, yet can’t seem to pull away from a mediocre AFC South.
