Argonauts, Alouettes Close on CFL Odds

The East Division’s title is at stake when the Toronto Argonauts visit the Montreal Alouettes Saturday afternoon. The Argos can clinch first place in the division-and a home playoff game-if they can handle their business against Montreal. The CFL football odds place Toronto as a very slight favorite. Winning in Montreal has proven difficult of late, however.

Let’s check the latest CFL odds, stats, injury reports, and CFL lines for Argonauts vs Alouettes. We’ve plenty of CFL betting odds for you to consider.

Argos Repeat With Win

The Argonauts can clinch their second consecutive division title by beating the Alouettes. This could prove tricky, though, as the Argos have lost five straight games in Montreal, and are just 1-5 against the spread (ATS) in its last six.

Toronto has been on a roll of late, 6-1 in its last seven. An ugly, two-point showing against Calgary in Week 14 notwithstanding, Toronto has averaged 30.8 points, leading the CFL. McLeod Bethel Thompson leads the CFL in passing yards, and been a Most Outstanding Player candidate in the six wins:

As the offense gets going, defense has held down the fort, leading the CFL in forcing turnovers (43), and is second in feweest points (22.8 per game). Though the unit allows opponents to move the ball, it minimizes scoring. Toronto is peaking, and is worth betting online.

Alouettes Must Force Some Mistakes

The Argonauts may pride themselves as the turnover-forcing defense, but the Alouettes can use that same formula. In the Argos’ six losses, four had them committing more turnovers than their opponents. Toronto is No. 5 in turnovers (No. 4 in interceptions) in the CFL. The teams that have more all have losing records.

Montreal is smack in the middle in terms of turnover differential (zero), committing fewer turnovers than Toronto, but also leads the league in yards conceded via penalties. Danny Maciocia was supposed to discipline the team when he took over, but that issue hasn’t changed.

Montreal has won six of its last eight, 3-0 as an underdog in this span. Defense limited four of its last seven opponents to less than 20 points. This includes keeping Winnipeg and BC to a combined 27 points. If this version of the team appears, they’re a worthy ‘dog in the sportsbook.

Argonauts vs Alouettes Prediction

Toronto hates playing in Montreal, as the Molson Stadium crowd gets extra loud when Argos come to visit. The Argonauts could be prone to making mistakes here.

While the offense has been on a roll, Bethel-Thompson has still turned over the ball, as last week was the first time he didn’t do so since the first part of the season. At the current lines, Montreal has solid value as an underdog. Take the Alouttes and the points.
