Arizona Cardinals Game-by-Game Predictions

What’s in the Cards For Murray and Co. in 2022?

Even though the Arizona Cardinals are coming off a solid 11-6-0 season, they enter 2022 with an unexceptional set of expectations in the betting.

The Cardinals strike a modest pose in NFC Conference and Super Bowl LVII betting markets, priced at +1400 and +2800, respectively, as we look at the current odds with BetUS. They’re also the third-best bet to win the NFC West at +325 while their regular season win total is projected to 8½ with the UNDER juiced to -120.

2022-23  NFL Futures – Arizona Cardinals

  • Super Bowl LVII      +2800

  • Regular Season Win Totals O 8½ (-135) / U 8½ (+105)

Will the Real Cards Please Stand Up?

The Cardinals were one of the hottest teams at the start of last season as they reeled off a 7-0 start. Injuries derailed them down the stretch and a lackluster 34-11 loss in the Wild Card round to eventual Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams didn’t provide good optics.

If the Cardinals play to their full potential, they could be a force to reckon with in the NFC. But it all depends on which Cardinals team shows up in 2022. Will it be the team that was unbeatable in the first half of the season? Or the team that whimpered to the finish line with a 4-5 SU record from Week 8 onwards. In other words, will the real Cards please stand up!

Arizona Cardinals Game-by-Game Predictions

Week 1 vs Kansas City Chiefs – Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

Kyler Murray finally got his “Mahomey-like” money, but he’s yet to earn in the same way Patrick Mahomes did. Beating the Chiefs in Week 1 would go some way towards throwing down that gauntlet. But can Murray do it without his trusted wide receiver De’Andre Hopkins who is serving a six-game suspension? It’s not impossible, but we’re going to err on the side of caution and give this game to Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Prediction: Loss

Record: 0-1

Week 2 @ Las Vegas Raiders – Sunday, Sept. 18 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Raiders will be debuting head coach Josh McDaniels in 2022 and a bolstered offensive line that includes prized wideout Davante Adams and a shored-up defensive line that includes former Cards defensive end Chandler Jones. It’s hard not to be blinded by the Raiders’ glittering stars and chalk this as a home win straightaway. The question is how quickly will all these newly added parts come together? Another question is can Derek Carr be consistent? Of course, the Cards aren’t without their own issues too but they could reasonably expect to win this game on the road. It’s a toss-up. We’re chalking it as a loss, but if it goes the other way, it won’t be surprising at all.

Prediction: Loss

Record: 0-2

Week 3 vs Los Angeles Rams –Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Cardinals romped to the 37-20 win against the Rams at SoFi Stadium in Week 4 of last season. They were one of a handful of teams to get the measure of the eventual Super Bowl champs in the regular season. If the Cards play at their full potential, they have a legitimate shot to deal the Rams and early setback in 2022.

Prediction: Win

Record: 1-2

Week 4 @ Carolina Panthers – Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, 4:05 p.m. ET

The Cardinals’ record against the Panthers during the Murray-Kingsbury era is downright embarrassing, considering Carolina’s quarterback carousel during this period. It’s about time the Cards snap this negative trend.

Prediction: Win

Record: 2-2

Week 5 vs Philadelphia Eagles – Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Eagles are the vogue NFL pick entering 2022, even though there are many on the fence with quarterback Jalen Hurts. J.J. Watt and the Cards’ defense could ride roughshod over Hurts and the offense.

Prediction: Win

Record: 3-2

Week 6 @ Seattle Seahawks – Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, 4:05 p.m. ET

If a Colt-McCoy-led Cardinals can beat a Russell-Wilson-led Seahawks 23-13, one has to believe that a Murray-inspired installment can steamroll a Seahawks team that will be trotting out either Geno Smith or Drew Lock this season.

Prediction: Win

Record: 4-2

Week 7 vs New Orleans Saints  — Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022, 8:15 p.m. ET

Short weeks can be challenging in the NFL, but the NFL schedulers have taken it easy on the Cards with back-to-back winnable games on both sides of the weekly schedule. The Saints are a total coin toss team this year, as the post-Sean-Payton era begins. They could be sneaky good or fail to launch altogether. The good news for the Cards, DeAndre Hopkins should be eligible to play in this Thursday Night Football showdown.

Prediction: Win

Record: 5-2

Week 8 @ Minnesota Vikings – Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, 1 p.m. ET

Last season, these teams delivered a nailbiter that went the way of the Cardinals after the Vikings botched a last-gasp field goal attempt. The Vikings are notorious dark-horse contenders in the NFC, but new Vikings skipper Kevin O’Connell was brought in to make them legitimate contenders. This will be a tough out for the Cardinals, but again the defense might tip the scale for the visitors.

Prediction: Win

Record: 6-2

Week 9 vs Seattle Seahawks – Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, 4:05 p.m. ET

Whether it is Geno Smith or Drew Lock leading the Seahawks offense, it won’t make an iota of difference. Cardinals sweep this series.

Prediction: Win

Record: 7-2

Week 10 @ Los Angeles Rams – Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Cardinals have played the Rams tough in recent years and that should continue into 2022. However, the Rams should take the home win here and split the series with the Cards.

Prediction: Loss

Record: 7-3

Week 11 vs San Francisco 49ers – Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, 8:00 p.m. ET (MEXICO CITY)

Kyle Shanahan’s side finished as the NFC runner-up after a narrow 20-17 loss to the Rams in the conference championship game. As such, the NFL betting markets are high on the Niners going into 2022. However, instead of Jimmy Garoppolo, it’s Trey Lance at the helm. By Week 11, we’ll know whether the whippersnapper was the right choice (or not) to lead the Niners.  Lance lost his NFL debut against the Cardinals last season.

Prediction: Win

Record: 8-3

Week 12 vs Los Angeles Chargers – Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, 4:05 p.m. ET

With the Cardinals coming off a Monday Night Football clash against the Niners in Mexico City, they’re bound to be at a disadvantage due to the travel and shortened week for this matchup with the loaded Los Angeles Chargers.

Prediction: Loss

Record: 8-4

Week 13 BYE WEEK

Week 14 vs New England Patriots – Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, 8:15 p.m. ET

The Cardinals will need to be sharp as they come out of a Week 13 bye to face the Patriots. Bill Belichick’s side will be coming off a Thursday Night Football game against the Bills and the extra time to prepare for this game could swing it the way of the Patriots. Put simply, in a late-season matchup between Belichick and Kingsbury, the money has to be on the legendary coach.

Prediction: Loss

Record: 8-5

Week 15 @ Denver Broncos – Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, 4:05 p.m. ET

If the Broncos are as good as many expect them to be in 2022, this will be a tough road trip to Mile High in the freezing cold of December. That said, Kingsbury has seen plenty of Russell Wilson to know what to expect from the veteran quarterback.

Prediction: Win

Record: 9-5

Week 16 vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers  — Monday, Dec. 25, 2022, 8:20 p.m. ET

Tom Brady. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Monday Night Football in Glendale, Arizona – incidentally, the very same place that will be hosting Super Bowl 57 this year. It’s very thoughtful of the league to give Brady and the Bucs this chance to get familiar with the surroundings and feel of State Farm stadium because you can bet TB12 is hoping to be back in this stadium in February.

Prediction: Loss

Record: 9-6

Week 17 @ Atlanta Falcons – Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, 1 p.m. ET

Everybody likes Marcus Mariota and hardly anyone begrudges him the chance to win another starting job in the league. It’s just a shame that his chance had to come with the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are rebuilding after they bid adieu to Matt Ryan. It’s hard to imagine they’ll be competing for anything at this stage of the season. Or is it?

Prediction: Win

Record: 10-6

Week 18 @ San Francisco 49ers – Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, TBD

The final game of the season is always a toss-up because it largely depends on what’s at stake for the teams involved. If the Cardinals have nothing to play for, they won’t risk it against the Niners. If there’s a premium on the win for one or both teams, it’s going to be a tough battle regardless. The Cardinals swept this series last year.

Prediction: Win

Record: 11-6

Pick: Over 8½ (+105)
