The Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings won in Week 1, but their momentum could come to a crashing end this week.
Our NFL picks expect the Bears to suffer a big loss to the Houston Texans, which is our most confident NFC North Week 2 pick.
The Vikings could also struggle to succeed, in what’s likely to be a tough week for the NFC North.
3 Best Bets for Week 2 in the NFC North
1. Texans (-7) to Prevail in QB Battle
There has been a lot of hype for top draft pick Caleb Williams, and although the Bears won their opening game against the Titans, Williams was awful.
We didn’t fancy him in college, and we don’t think he has much chance of adjusting to life in the NFL after going 14-29 for 93 yards and no touchdowns.

He might have been the first rookie quarterback to win on debut since 2002, but it wasn’t because of anything he did.
“It was a frustrating game,” Williams told NFL news outlets. “But the most important thing is that it shows a bunch of the personality of this team, I would say — the fight, the resiliency that we had.”
Williams was close to awful, as his QBR suggests. He should get shown up by C.J. Stroud, who is used to NFL defenses.
The Texans are -7 favorites with NFL betting odds, and that line is too juicy to pass up. They looked good in Week 1, beating the Colts 29-27 in a close battle.
Confidence levels will rise from that effort, and if Williams repeats his terrible performance, the Texans will pull away for a comfortable victory.

2. Vikings Bubble Burst, 49ers (-4) Top Pick
The Vikings looked good in Week 1, scoring a 28-6 win over the lowly New York Giants, but that form isn’t likely to hold up against the San Francisco 49ers.
Coming off a Super Bowl appearance, the 49ers should start the season strongly, and we’re happy with the -4 line, despite playing on the road.
BetUS NFL odds aren’t giving the 49ers enough respect, and that’s largely because of how impressive the Vikings looked against the Giants, but it’s misguided confidence.
Any team could look good against the Giants, and the Vikings could be in for a rude awakening on Sunday.
Playing at home is a positive, but we expect Christian McCaffrey to power his way through the Vikings’ defense. Minnesota went 2-6 at home in 2023, so it’s not a fortress, and the 49ers will be hungry to turn around a 22-17 loss to the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium last year.
Include 49ers -4 in your NFL parlays for Week 2, as the NFC North could struggle to continue its momentum.

3. Buccs vs Lions: A Low Scoring Affair (Under 48½)
Tampa Bay scored 37 points when beating Washington 37-20 in Week 1, but we can’t see many points being scored against the Lions this week.
The Lions’ defense is much better than Washington’s, and that could result in a low-scoring affair at Ford Field on Sunday.
There is market confidence in the Lions to play well, but the best bet is under 49 points. We expect the final score to be around 24-17, which gives bettors a few points to work with.
The main reason for locking in Under 49 points is believing the Buccaneers offense in Week 1 to be an anomaly. They faced a terrible team in the Commanders, and scoring won’t come easily against the Lions.
It might not be the most exciting NFL Week 2 pick, but it should cash.
