Bet on Low-Scoring Affair for Panthers vs Giants

Carolina Seeks Better Performance in Second Preseason Game

After failing to score a point last week, the Carolina Panthers now take on another New York team in a bid to do better. The NFL lines have Carolina as underdogs while the New York Giants also look to bounce back following a defeat to the Detroit Lions. Star rookie Bryce Young got a few snaps for Carolina. But Daniel Jones, New York’s newly-inked quarterback, has yet to play.

Panthers Need to Score

It was far from the ideal start Frank Reich and the Panthers wanted. The team managed just 165 yards and was held off the scoreboard. On the bright side, Bryce Young was solid in his few snaps. He completed four of his six attempts and looked comfortable even against a fast and furious New York Jets pass rush.

The Giants are not as ferocious as the Jets on defense. But this is still a team with more continuity and experience. Thus, it could be another rough outing for the Panthers. It may still be tough to bet online on this team, given how it looked last week.

The Panthers have plenty of openings at their skill positions. But few players stood out in the game against the Jets. Matt Corral came in for Young and looks alright. There is not much to write home about hence why NFL picks are against Carolina again.

Will Jones Play for Giants This Time?

Daniel Jones sat out of the Giants’ preseason game against the Lions. The team could have used him, as New York managed just three points in the second half. Head coach Brian Daboll did say over a Zoom call that he “anticipates him playing.”

But maybe the Giants can do without Jones against Carolina. The Panthers’ offense was not the only unit that struggled. The pass rush could not get to the Jets’ quarterbacks. Both they and the running backs also carved up the Panthers’ defense. The Jets averaged 4.9 yards per play and allowed just one sack.

The Giants were clunky on offense against Detroit. But that could also be due to Detroit’s defense being far superior to Carolina’s. As such, the sportsbook pegs the Giants as the favorite here. They can’t be worse than last week.

Panthers vs Giants Head to Head

The Panthers are just 1-6 against the spread (ATS) in their last seven games in Giants territory. The total has also gone under in five of their last seven meetings.

Panthers vs Giants Game Prediction

Predicted Score: Giants 20, Panthers 16

  • Worth Betting ATS?

As far as the spread goes, lay the points on the Giants at just -105. The Giants didn’t look great against Detroit. But Dan Campbell is into his third year coaching Detroit, while Reich is just getting acclimated to a team with plenty of new players. New York may just edge Carolina in a sloppy affair.

Pick: New York Giants -3 (-105)

  • Worth Betting on the Totals?

This is the market worth betting online. Both teams are still working out the bugs of their offenses. Even if Jones plays for the Giants, he won’t stick around for long. Maybe he’ll lead a touchdown drive at most. Don’t expect Young to play that much either. And Carolina and New York’s second and third squads leave much to be desired.

Pick: Under 39
