Bills vs Jets Best Bets: Go with New-Look New York On MNF 10/14

  • Look for a gritty defensive battle between the Bills and Jets on Monday Night Football.
  • These AFC East rivals are likely to keep the score low, especially in the first half.
  • BetUS Sportsbook offers great value on these same-game parlay picks.

The new-look New York Jets host the Buffalo Bills in what is sure to be a highly scrutinized Monday Night Football contest. The Jets canned head coach Robert Saleh this week, and despite the controversy, this could be the shot in the arm the team sorely needs.

Teams entering a game with a new coach can outperform expectations. Hence, our NFL picks for a parlay for Monday Night Football side with the Jets in a classic rock fight.

3 Legs To Bet on a Bills vs Jets MNF Parlay

1. Bet Against Scoring By Both Teams

The Jets fired Saleh and will have defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich take over in the interim. Thus, we don’t expect much change from this team’s identity.

New York will maintain its gritty defensive form and hold Buffalo and the total down. The total is only 40½ points, but our NFL predictions are toward the under.

These AFC East rivals tend to trend toward the under with these conditions. Five of Buffalo’s last six road games and 14 of the Jets’ last 20 conference games have gone under the total.

Against each other, the total has gone under in four of the previous five games at MetLife Stadium. This is what happens with strong defenses and pedestrian offenses.

Even with the Jets changing the offense’s play calling, the team will not suddenly light up the scoreboard. Ulbrich explained that Todd Downing will be the Jets’ new play-caller and will have “full say on the game plan and, ultimately, the plays that are called within the game.”

New York only averages 19 points per game and 4.8 yards per play. Both rank in the bottom third of the league. And while the Buffalo Bills’ rushing defense is the worst in the NFL, they still only allow 22.5 points as a visiting team.

Maybe the Jets will get a bit better. But we’re still betting on low scoring, hence the under 40½ as one of the legs of a MNF same-game parlay when you bet online.

2. Bet Against Scoring … at the Half

We’re doubling up on the under by adding the under 20 first-half points to our best MNF parlay. The Bills have scored six points in their last two first halves, both of which occurred on the road.

This is their third straight road game, with the offense still not figuring it out. The Jets, in their home games, scored 14 in the first half against the Patriots but only six versus Denver.

The Patriots game was on a short week on Thursday Night Football, with New England coming off an overtime loss. New England didn’t show up, and the Jets took advantage. Otherwise, the Jets’ offense remains a stick in the mud, even with the great Aaron Rodgers at quarterback.

The four-time MVP is a shell of his former self, and his 81.6 passer rating is his lowest as a starter. He struggled mightily against Minnesota, which prompted the coaching changes.

The Bills have coughed up plenty of first-half points on the road (15.5), but the Jets have also held opponents to three points.

Buffalo should be better on defense, as the New York Jets are not as good as Baltimore or Houston. On offense, the Bills will likely score a field goal or more. Still, the total will be under 20 points after the first 30 minutes.

3. Jets Squeeze the Bills For a Narrow Win

The NFL odds are backward on this. New York should be favored in this game.

Buffalo has been exposed in its last two games. The Bills are missing key linebackers, and the Jets’ running game is due for a big game.

Buffalo is giving up 5.2 yards per carry and a 43.9% third-down conversion rate. The Jets can and will move the ball on Buffalo.

This is mainly the same team that upset the Bills in their last two home games. And while Aaron Rodgers has not been great, he’s better than Zach Wilson at QB. He completed 19-of-30 passes for two touchdowns and one pick in his last outing against Buffalo (while he was with the Packers).

The Jets’ defense will also play some inspired football and make life hell for Allen. He has thrown four TDs against eight interceptions in five career starts as a visitor against the Jets.

Take the Jets to pull off the upset in the last leg of this parlay with your online sports betting.
