2 Expert Predictions for Bills vs Lions

1. Bet Buffalo as Underdogs

It indeed was a “trap game” for Buffalo against Los Angeles. The Bills came out flat and could not overcome a 17-point deficit heading to the fourth quarter. But Allen showed that the Bills are never out of it as he engineered three touchdowns in the final 15 minutes to almost beat Los Angeles. He’s our main reason for betting online on Buffalo.

Fair play, the Lions are much better than the Rams. They are tied with the Chiefs with the best record in the NFL. They lead in scoring (32.1 points per game) and are second in scoring defense (18 allowed per game).

Per NFL betting trends, Detroit has also won seven straight contests by at least three points. So if you’re a Lions backer, a line of -1 is a bargain.

However, the Lions also do not have Allen. While he’ll be hard-pressed to score six touchdowns again, Allen is the runaway favorite to win the MVP for a reason. He’s nigh-impossible to stop. And Detroit is vulnerable when it comes to conceding yards, especially through the air.

The Lions may have the fourth-best red-zone defense (47.2%) but you don’t want Buffalo anywhere inside the 20. The BIlls score a touchdown on 68.5% of their red zone drives. They also lead the NFL in fourth-down conversion rate (86.7%).

Buffalo is going to test Detroit’s defense, which just gave up 31 points against Green Bay and 301 yards versus the woeful Bears. The Lions also have several injuries to the defensive line. They may struggle to stop Allen or the running game, hence why the Bills are our upset NFL pick here.

2. No Stopping Scoring – Bet the Over

It’s rare to see a total in the mid-50s in the NFL. But this is a testament to how the public views this game. We have a battle between two of the NFL’s most explosive offenses. And while both sport solid defenses, they won’t be able to contain each other. Thus, even with 54½ points as an NFL betting line, we’re betting it to go over.

The Bills’ defense was exposed last week. They could not pressure Matthew Stafford who completed 76.7% of his passes for two touchdowns and a 132.6 passer rating. You know who else is great when they’re untouched? The guy Stafford was traded for: Jared Goff. He’s been low-key lighting up teams this season.

Per Bills vs Lions stats, Goff is averaging a career-best 109.1 passer rating. He’s completing 72.4% of his passes and is on pace for 33 touchdowns. On top of that, he’s got the best running back tandem behind him in Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. The Bills give up 4.7 yards per carry, which is among the highest for defenses.

On the flip side, Buffalo also has James Cook and Ray Davis along with Allen being a rushing threat. Cook rarely has two consecutive quiet games. He’s due for a big one here. A shrewd NFL player prop is for him to score a touchdown or go over his rushing yards.

All-in-all, there is too much firepower for either defense here. We may not see another game with both teams scoring in the 40s. But expect Buffalo and Detroit to each score in the 30s as the total goes over.
