Bombers Always Find a Way
At this point, who can bet online against Winnipeg? The Blue Bombers beat the Stampeders, who used to be our No. 2 team in the CFL Power Rankings, twice. The defense has been clutch and has continued to make it hell for opponents to reach the end zone.
Winnipeg leads the CFL having given up nine touchdowns through eight games. It’s why the Bombers also are the top defense, allowing a measly 17.8 points per game. As for the offense, Zach Collaros and Co. haven’t always lit it up. But they come up with enough big plays to keep Winnipeg chugging along.
In this last game, running back Brady Oliveira had a breakout performance. He rushed for 110 yards on 15 carries (7.3 average) while Collaros threw for four touchdowns, the most he’s thrown in a game this season. If the offense heats up, it’s not unthinkable for this team to go unbeaten.
Alouettes Look To Trap Winnipeg
Every team loses some time and Montreal is looking to be the underdog that finally dethrones the king. Montreal does not particularly do anything well. Their offense is a middle-of-the-pack kind of squad. Trevor Harris has some prolific games but can follow it up with subpar outings. And the defense? It’s perpetually a work-in-progress.
Most notably, the Alouettes are one of the most penalized teams in the CFL. The 665 yards they’ve lost are second only to the Roughriders. The difference is that Saskatchewan also leads the league in turnovers forced whereas Montreal is second-last.
But every dog has its day as they say. The Alouettes have won two straight against Winnipeg at the Molson Stadium. Montreal gave Winnipeg its biggest loss since Week 15 of the 2019 season. They did it against backup Sean McGuire though so taking on Collaros is another story.

The Blue Bombers have won 7 of their last 10 games against the Alouettes. The total has also gone over or pushed on eight of these games. Despite losing their last two games in Montreal, Winnipeg is 3-2 in its last five visits to La Metropole.

Blue Bombers vs Alouettes Prediction
The Alouettes remain one of the most frustrating teams in the league. This outfit flashes a high offensive ceiling with a plethora of playmakers and the defense can be tough to throw against. But the Alouettes have struggled to take the ball away, which was a strength for them for the past seasons. And the team remains undisciplined despite the coaching change.
But Winnipeg could be on running on fumes here. This team hasn’t had a break at all this season and it’s coming in on a short week.
