Southern Teams Look To Jump the Standings
The New Orleans Breakers and Memphis Showboats will each look to improve their spots in the South Division when they meet in a rematch on Saturday. Both are tied with the Gamblers for second place in the division with 5-3 records. While Memphis is looking to continue its five-game win streak, the Breakers are aiming to get the win over the Showboats after falling to them in the first meeting. According to USFL odds, however, Memphis is favored in the rematch.
Breakers End Skid
New Orleans put an end to its three-game losing streak by continuing to improve its offense.
The Breakers lead the league in offense, averaging 343.8 yards a game, but they struggled during their three-week skid, averaging 13.3 points and 286 yards a game.
However, New Orleans got back on track in its win over Michigan, recording 357 yards to score 24 points, led by quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson, who threw for 328 yards and two touchdowns.

The Showboats were one of the teams who did a good job at slowing the Breakers, holding them to 10 points, so bettors may want to see if they can continue their strong offensive play before looking at some USFL live betting odds.
Showboats Stay Strong
Memphis has also used some strong offense during its five-game winning streak.
The Showboats are second-worst in the league averaging 260.8 yards per game, and in their last three games, they have averaged 268.7 yards and 23.3 points a game.
Despite the scoring, however, a good portion of that has come from field goals, as Memphis is 2-for-9 in red-zone attempts in its last three games, going 12-for-12 in field-goal attempts in that same time.
The Showboats’ way of scoring has been working for them lately, and it did in their first game against the Breakers as well, though it may be best to see if it continues to work against New Orleans before making any USFL picks.

Memphis is on a roll and got the first win against New Orleans, but the Showboats’ defense has shown cracks recently, giving up 18 points in their last two games after allowing 6.7 in their previous three. The Breakers’ top-ranked offense should bring more issues, and with New Orleans hoping to even the score, the Breakers should get a close win and cover the USFL lines.
Worth Betting the Totals?
The Breakers and Showboats didn’t quite bring the fireworks offensively the first time the two met, and it’s not likely they will in the rematch either. With New Orleans’ offense still taking strides to improve and Memphis’ continued struggle to reach the end zone, the two should remain under the 42.5-point total from the sportsbook.
