New Orleans Falls for First Time
The New Orleans Breakers (4-1) come off their first loss and look to get back on track against the Philadelphia Stars (2-3) on Sunday. According to USFL lines, this matchup features the highest projected total of Week 6 at 48.
Philadelphia is a significant underdog (-8) with one of the USFL’s worst defenses. Will New Orleans’ high-powered offense roll to a win?

Breakers’ Offense Sputters
After starting the season with the fourth-shortest odds to win the USFL title, the Breakers are now the sportsbook’s odds-on favorite to win it all. They have been a dominant force on both sides of the ball.
They rank first in allowed points per game, third in surrendered rushing yards per game and first in allowed passing yards per game. The offense is even better. In fact, it features the USFL’s leaders in passing yards, quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson, and rushing yards, Wes Hills. Wide receiver Sage Surratt also has a league-best 387 receiving yards.

However, it came down to a screeching halt last week. The defense did its part, holding the Memphis Showboats to 244 yards and 1.5 yards per rushing attempt. The offense put up only 182 passing yards in the 17-10 loss.
Despite the disappointing loss, New Orleans remains a quality USFL picks, especially against the Stars, who rank third-to-last in allowed points per game.
Stars Dulled in Red Zone
Following an embarrassing 41-16 loss in Week 4 against the Houston Gamblers, Philadelphia bounced back with a 24-21 win over the New Jersey Generals, but it wasn’t pretty. The Stars mustered 105 yards on 2.9 yards per play. How did the Stars manage to win with this poor offensive showing?
Philly cashed in on New Jersey’s mistakes, which included four turnovers. The Stars’ offense still has a long way to go following a pitiful red zone showing. In four appearances, Philadelphia attempted field goals on every trip. In fact, all of its points came from eight field goals. You read that right, the Stars scored 24 points on field goals … Don’t expect any scoring explosions from Philly in your USFL predictions, especially against the Breakers’ formidable defense.
Breakers vs Stars Head-to-Head
The two met in the 2022 season with the Breakers pulling away with a 23-17 win.

Worth Betting ATS?
This matchup features the USFL odds’ largest point spread of the week, and it’s with good reason. Look for New Orleans to beat the breaks off Philadelphia. The Breakers’ Hills, the former Detroit Lions running back, is in store for a monster game. The Stars rank last in allowed rushing yards per game, and Hills has been a workhorse, leading the USFL in carries per game.
Worth Betting on the Totals?
While the Breakers could light up the scoreboard, Philadelphia lacks the firepower to match New Orleans. Quarterback Case Cookus ranks second with 1,047 passing yards but also has the second-highest mark for interceptions with five. The Breakers’ defense has corralled 10 interceptions in five games. Turnovers will limit Philly’s scoring total. Take the under in your sport bets.
