Buccaneers’ Playoff Betting Results Analysis: O/U

The Buccaneers averaged almost 31 PPG over their three playoff victories this postseason while defeating the WFT, Saints, and Packers. Tampa Bay allowed an average of 23 points against those same three teams, all on the road. The current NFL odds on our sportsbook show the over/under to be 56 total points for the Super Bowl.

If the O/U of 56 holds through kickoff, it will be the third-highest Super Bowl total in history. Not surprising, since the Chiefs and Buccaneers are the third and sixth-highest scoring teams this season, respectively. The highest point total ever (57) posted when Tom Brady’s Patriots battled the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI. Brady’s epic comeback effort for New England pushed the points total over, with 62 points scored.

NFL betting is nearing its season finale, and it’s time to get gambling serious. online sports betting hubs everywhere are preparing to be bombarded with bets on the O/U. How well have the Buccaneers fared with the over/under in the playoffs so far this year?

The over is 2-1 for the Buccaneers in the postseason. The only playoff game that came in under for Tampa Bay, took place against New Orleans in the Divisional Round. The Bucs beat the Saints 30-20, and it was N’awlins that failed to hold up its end of the bargain.

The Saints’ fifth-ranked defense couldn’t slow the Bucs’ offensive machine, while Tampa’s D clamped down just enough on Drew Brees & Co. The week prior, the Buccaneers put up 31 points on the fourth-ranked WFT defense. It seems that the Brady Bunch are finding ways to score their points, regardless of opponent.

Combine this recent track record with the Chiefs’ high-powered offense (and relatively weak defense), and we’re looking at another over. Right? Kansas City’s contest with Cleveland in the Divisional Round went way under, but that’s largely due to Patrick Mahomes’ concussion. The total cleared the over by plenty of points when the Chiefs faced the Bills in the Conference Championship.

All of that being said, I’m leaning towards taking the under, and it has to do with the Buccaneers’ defense. Tampa has been getting scary pressure on opposing quarterbacks, and Mahomes’ mobility/ durability is up for debate. When these teams clashed in Week 12, the final score was 27-24, with just 51 total points. The Buccaneers’ D has been playing much better overall since then and will be fiercely defending their home turf. What an exciting game we’re all in for!!!
