Lions Slightly Favored
The two best teams in the CFL, outside of Winnipeg, face off in Calgary. The BC Lions have the slight edge per the CFL football betting lines. Both BC and Calgary are undefeated against teams that aren’t the Blue Bombers (11-0). Calgary is 8-2 in its last 10 games against BC but those two losses both came at McMahon Stadium.
Rourke not BC’s Only Weapon
When we talk about the Lions, we talk about Nathan Rourke. The Canadian quarterback is lighting up the CFL, albeit against teams like Edmonton. Still, the Most Outstanding Player (MOP) favorite is making almost every game look easy.
But Rourke is just one reason why the Lions have been dominant this season. Did you know that they have allowed the second-fewest points in the CFL? BC is allowing just 19.3 points and has the second-most sacks (21) and are third in turnovers-forced (19).

With a superstar QB in Rourke and a defense with a penchant for big plays, the Lions would be a Grey Cup contender on the online sportsbook. Beating Calgary will solidify their place as the second-best team in the CFL until its rematch with Winnipeg.
Stampeders Yet to Beat an Elite Team
Calgary is 5-2 with all of its five wins coming against opponents with a losing record. That’s two wins against Edmonton and one each against Ottawa, Hamilton and Montreal. The Stampeders’ wins over Montreal and Hamilton were relatively close. They needed a comeback to beat Hamilton and they squeaked by Montreal thanks to some undisciplined play.
As it stands, the Stamps are only 3-4 against the spread (ATS). They have not covered at home (0-3) either. A lot of their issues point to the stagnant offense. Not only is Bo Levi Mitchell a shell of who he was, but he’s also at that point where he is weighing the team down.
It’s tough to bet online against one of the CFL’s best quarterbacks. But if Calgary gets into a showdown with a top team, it does not have the offense to keep up. The Stamps will rely on their defense, which gets a tough task at slowing down Rourke.
BC Lions vs Stampeders Head-to-Head
The Lions have won two of their last three trips to McMahon Stadium. They covered both times. And even if BC is just 2-8 straight-up against Calgary in its last 10 meetings, it has covered or pushed on six of these games (5-4-1). The total went under in seven of the 10 games.

BC Lions vs Stampeders Prediction
At their current odds, bet the Lions or pass. BC is a more tested team. It squashed Edmonton and also lit up Toronto and beat Saskatchewan in their own stadium. Rourke is significantly better than Mitchell now and the Lions’ defense can better neutralize Calgary’s offense.
The Stampeders’ edge comes via special teams. Calgary has been solid at preventing opponents from gaining field advantage while BC’s special teams are average. But if this became a close game, as the odds point out, we like our money’s on BC’s clutch playmaking. The Nathan Rourke tour continues in style.
