Gus Edwards has been one of the Chargers’ most underwhelming players. He was supposed to be the 1B at running back to J.K. Dobbins 1A.

But while Dobbins has looked rejuvenated, Edwards has looked old. He’s averaging a career-worst 3.4 yards per carry, and it’s no wonder he’s not getting the ball a lot even with Dobbins on injured reserve.

We’re surprised to see the NFL odds for Edwards’ carries at 10½. He’s not carried the ball more than 10 times since Week 2 against Carolina.

The consensus was that Edwards would be the team’s bell cow without Dobbins. But against Atlanta last week, Edwards only had six carries, though that was the most on the team.

Still, we can’t see Edwards rushing more than 10 times in this game. Kimani Vidal, the third-string back, outperformed Edwards against Atlanta. He’s not that inspiring of a choice but he may eat into Edwards’ load enough to cash this bet online to go under. Parlay under 10½ carries for Edwards.

 2. Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Over ½ Interceptions

While the Chargers consistently lose to the Chiefs, they’ve also picked off Mahomes recently. Los Angeles has forced an interception from Mahomes in its last two meetings.

Overall, Mahomes has thrown seven picks in 11 career games versus the Bolts. Betting on him to throw another one makes for one of the more solid SNF parlay bets.

Mahomes has already thrown 11 interceptions this season. While he’s not thrown a pick in four of his last five games, the Chargers also have a ball-hawking defense to change that trend.

Los Angeles has 13 interceptions this season, which is the fourth-most in the NFL. It picked off Kirk Cousins four times last week.

We don’t need four interceptions from the Chargers for this bet to hit; we only need one. The Chiefs’ offensive line has not played well, and even with DeAndre Hopkins, the Chargers’ secondary players can win their matchups and force picks from Mahomes. This is worth adding to the NFL parlay.

3. Los Angeles Chargers +4½

Thanks to their defense, which allows the fewest points in the league (15.7 per game), the Chargers can keep the Chiefs within four points. Yes, the Chargers lost by a touchdown in Week 4, but Los Angeles also went up 10-0 in that contest. And the Kansas City defense was playing much better in that one.

Kansas City’s D has been vulnerable lately. It allowed 434 yards against the Raiders, arguably the worst team in the NFL right now, and 27 points against Carolina.

These teams are a combined 5-19 for the season and average in the bottom five of the league in scoring. Even if the Chiefs go up double figures, we’ll bank on the Chargers to march back.
