The Commanders-Lions Divisional Round game could be the most explosive this weekend. But we’re betting against that. Despite two prolific offenses, this will be a gritty game that favors Detroit. We’re not calling Washington “soft”. But the Lions can do whatever the Commanders can do outside of Jayden Daniels’ dynamic playmaking. This is a tough game to bet but the wide Commanders vs Lions odds in favor of Detroit remain the right side.

ML, ATS, Total, and Prop Picks for Commanders vs Lions Division Round
1. Detroit Lions ML (-560)
It’s hard to bet online against Detroit even if Washington came from another riveting victory. Detroit is a much more complete team than Tampa Bay and the odds of Washington forcing more turnovers are unlikely. Detroit has the NFL’s top offense (33.2 points per game) and it is efficient with just 15 turnovers in the season.
Additionally, the Lions have one of the best offensive lines. They are responsible for the laser-accurate passing game and unstoppable rushing attack. This is the difference and we expect the Lions’ front line to dominate Washington’s. Include this moneyline in your NFL picks and parlays this weekend.
2. Washington Commanders ATS +9.5
We expect Detroit to win but our money is on Washington covering the spread. Detroit is only 5-4 as an NFL pick against the spread (ATS) at Ford Field. Even if Washington is only just 4-4-1 ATS as a visitor, this Commanders team is playing too well to be seen as a write-off. Washington has a deadly offense that can exploit some weaknesses with Detroit.
For one, the Lions give up plenty of yards. They rank 20th in total defense (342.3 yards allowed per game) while allowing the third-most passing yards (244). And while Detroit has one of the best third-down and red-zone defenses, Washington ranks sixth in both categories. Bet the underdogs to cover.
Bet on Washington Commanders +9.5
3. Player Prop: Jared Goff Under 33.5 Pass Attempts (-112)
The Lions have one of the most balanced offenses, which is why our NFL player prop pick today is for Jared Goff to throw the ball too much. He’s only thrown over 33 times in six of his 17 starts this season and in three of his last five playoff games. Detroit could also go up early and control the game by mixing up calls to keep the visitors on their toes.
Only ONE QB in NFL history has done ALL the following (same season or not):
🏈 a season with 15+ wins as a starter
🏈 a season with 4000+ pass yds
🏈 a season with a 70.0+ comp pct
🏈 a season with a 110.0+ passer ratingThat QB is Jared Goff and he did it ALL in 2024 🤯 pic.twitter.com/SLPMk9uUAy

Additionally, the Commanders only allow 29.2 passing attempts against opponents. This is the second-fewest among NFL teams. Goff is deadly accurate so he won’t need more than 20+ passes to score touchdowns and lead Detroit to a win.
Bet on Jared Goff Under 33.5 Pass Attempts (-112)
4. Commanders vs Lions Under 55
The consensus is that this will be a high-scoring game. But a 55-point total is bonkers and is not indicative of how the NFL playoffs are. We’ll give Dan Campbell his due. He is one crazy SOB and will go for every 4th down he can. But he’s got Ben Johnson to keep him mostly sane. Detroit will not play to blow Washington out but to keep it in check.
We will see more of a controlled scheme from the Lions. And while we’ve waxed on Washington’s ability to score against Detroit’s penchant for giving up yards, the total is going under. The online sports betting line is too high. Bet under.
