Washington and Detroit meet in a Divisional Round showdown where defenses may just outdo offenses. The total is set high but we’re betting against it using these NFL parlay picks. Despite the offensive nature of these NFC elites, there is more value in betting ‘under’ on several lines. Beginning with the total, which is set at lofty 55.5, we can get a payout of nearly 3/1 using these plays.

3 Commanders vs Lions Same Game Parlay Picks

1. Commanders vs Lions Under 55.5

Contrary to popular belief, Washington and Detroit will not be that high-scoring. While we still expect spectacular offense here, 56 points is too much. Hence, we’re betting online against the total and adding it to our NFL parlay. Four of Detroit’s last seven games went under 55.5 points similar to four of Washington’s last five games.

Additionally, this is the NFL playoffs. The strategies change here and we may see playcalling that focuses more on ball control and clock management. Sure, it’s Dan Campbell and he’s one crazy son-of-a-gun. But he’s not entirely reckless and has the more composed Ben Johnson to dilute his gung-ho play-calling.

Washington’s road games have also gone under the total recently. At least one team, either the Commanders or their opponent, is held to 20 points or fewer. And the Commanders have not scored more than 23 points in five of their last six trips. This one goes under the total.

Parlay Pick: Commanders vs Lions Under 55.5

2. Jared Goff Under 2.5 Passing Touchdowns (-189)

Jared Goff, despite putting up lofty stats, is no more than a game manager. Any decent quarterback who sits behind a dominant offensive line alongside the best running back tandem and an All-Pro receiver will put up numbers. Hence, we bet on Goff to throw under three touchdowns here.

The 30-year-old only has eight touchdowns in nine playoff games. He has not thrown more than two touchdowns in his playoff career. And why would he need to? The Lions have Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery who can run the ball into the endzone. They have 32 of the team’s 68 offensive TDs.

The ‘under’ is steamed on the NFL odds. But it’s worth betting given recent NFL trends. And it’s a good parlay piece for this same-game play.

Parlay Pick: Jared Goff Under 2.5 Passing Touchdowns (-189)

3. Zach Ertz Under 29.5 Receiving Yards

The scoring stays low because Detroit will nullify Washington’s offense. It will do that by running the ball at will and keeping Washington’s short-yardage game under wrap. Expect key players like Zach Ertz to be held under his receiving totals. Our NFL game prediction is for him to go under his receiving yards even at just 29.5 yards.

The 30.5 is not a lot. Ertz could go over this with just three catches. But he’s also going against Detroit’s elite back seven, which has held opposing tight ends to four receptions and 39.1 receiving yards per game. The Lions have also not allowed any big plays.

Ertz has also not played too well recently. He was held to 23 yards on two catches in the Wild Card Round. And he’s been held to 31 yards or fewer in six of his last 10 games. Parlay him to go under his receiving totals.

Parlay Pick: Zach Ertz Under 29.5 Receiving Yards (-120)

Bet on Commanders vs Lions Under 55.5, Jared Goff Under 2.5 Passing TDs, and Zach Ertz Under 30.5 Receiving Yards
