Cowboys vs Vikings Prediction Week 11

One of those rare NFL matchups where both teams are fighting for a possible postseason spot in spite of their combined .333 record. The Minnesota Vikings host the Dallas Cowboys and the sportsbook posts them as a touchdown home favorite. Week 11 sports betting continues and we offer NFL picks for this game.

Game: Dallas Cowboys (2-7) vs Minnesota Vikings (4-5)
Location: U.S. Bank Stadium
Time: 4:25 p.m. ET
Television: FOX

It’s been a couple of weeks since the Cowboys were seen putting a scare into the Pittsburgh Steelers. Backup to the backup, Dallas started quarterback Garrett Gilbert who pushed a ten-point lead into the fourth quarter. The Steelers woke up, hung three scores on the Cowboys and ultimately won 24-19. The total was bet up to 44 by close, with most numbers missing thanks to two failed Pittsburgh extra-point attempts in the fourth.

Minnesota handled the Chicago Bears in primetime last Monday night, as favorites that closed at 3½, bet up from a low of 2½. The low-scoring final, 19-13 in favor of the Vikes, was not only well under the total of 44 but padded by a Bears’ kickoff return for a touchdown.

Cowboys vs Vikings NFL Betting Lines

Moneyline: Dallas Cowboys +270 (2-7) | Minnesota Vikings -330 (4-5)

Once the worst-kept secret of the return of Cowboys’ QB Andy Dalton was out of the bag, markets supported Dallas, bringing the moneyline down to +270. While we like the Cowboys in this game, that’s with the points and not necessarily straight up.

Dalton is feeling much better after a combination of a concussion and testing positive for COVID. Though he still lacks the sense of taste and smell, his press quotes indicate he’s eager to pick up where he left off a few weeks ago.

Coming off their bye, Dallas should be well-rested. The only concern is their two starting defensive ends, Randy Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence, who both missed practice with the mysterious “illness” designation. The team claims they are not (yet) COVID-related, so fingers crossed and eyes on the final injury report and COVID-IR list.

Pick: Minnesota to win

Point Spread: Dallas Cowboys +7 (1-8) | Minnesota Vikings -7 (6-3)

As for the spread, we’ll happily take the touchdown. Expect it to be gone at some point on Friday, so act now. Minnesota would be happy with a perfunctory three-point win here, and we expect they’ll try to get that in the same way they have all their wins, on the back of Dalvin Cook.

Considering Dallas’ all-hands mentality for this game, expect them to keep fighting. Catching seven points here is too many in a contest where reaching 21 should get them the cover. Minnesota appears to have some O-line issues and could be short-handed on run defense. Enough to allow Dallas to keep it close.

Pick: Dallas +7

Over/Under 47½ points

The total bounced from an opening of 46½, up to 48½. It has since been bet down to the current 47½. We’d lean to the under here with the assumption that the Cowboys’ sick defensive ends will in fact return to practice, and then to the field on Sunday. A surprise injury report could send this number up a point and a half.

Pick: Under 47½

Final Score: Dallas 23, Minnesota 24
