Cross-Sport Parlay: Warm Up for Super Bowl With Pair of Fights

It’s the big finale on Sunday with Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas. But before laying our NFL expert picks on it, we can add a few fights from Saturday to make a solid parlay. The UFC returns to the Apex in Las Vegas as a “warm-up” for the Super Bowl while British boxing gets a busy day just hours before.

Best Bets to Parlay This Weekend

NFL Super Bowl LVIII: Chiefs Win Another Nailbiter – Chiefs ML (+105)

By now it’s clear that you do not bet against Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and the Kansas City Chiefs. This is their fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years for a reason. Mahomes is a “wizard” for lack of a better word. Check this insane stat: he has 44 total touchdowns (39 passing) against seven interceptions and zero sacks.

Mahomes will negate the 49ers’ overrated defense. We saw the Lions and Packers light up the 49ers early in games. And as good as Brock Purdy has been in commanding his team to comebacks, you can’t do that against the Chiefs. Mahomes has a career passer rating of 128.7 when KC is ahead with more than four minutes to go.

The Chiefs are underdogs on our NFL betting lines because the “maths” gives San Francisco a better chance, statistically. But this is the NFL playoffs. There are more variables to factor in, including intangibles, that can lead to teams like KC consistently beating the odds. As such, we’re betting the Chiefs to win as slight underdogs (+100).

Boxing: Yarde Smashes Nikolic But Not Too Early – Over 2½ (-105)

Speaking of warming up, Anthony Yarde gets one against Marko Nikolic. The Briton is a whopping -5000 favorite and is just keeping busy until he can get another crack at a belt. Nikolic has mainly fought nobodies and is the slower and less prolific boxer here. This one is going to end with a Yarde KO. But 2½ rounds is too quick.

Yarde may just sleep Nikolic with the first clean punch he lands. But looking at his recent KO wins, most have been after the second round: nine of the last 11. Nikolic got starched in Round 1 back in 2022, but that remains his only early TKO loss in his career.

Yarde should still knock Nikolic out. But given the boxing betting lines, bet the total rounds to go over 2½.

UFC: Pyfer and Hermansson Finish By Halfway – Under 2½ (-155)

Opposite to the boxing match, we’re favoring the UFC Fight Night main event to end much quicker than the 2½ total indicates. Joe Pyfer could knock Jack Hermansson out within two rounds or “The Joker” could pull out a quick submission as he’s done in the past.

Four of Hermansson’s last four fights have gone to a decision. But before that, four of his five fights were finished within two rounds. He has five first-round submission victories. In contrast, all three of his knockout losses happened in the first two rounds.

Hermansson also lives up to his moniker as he makes head-scratching decisions. He may attempt to trade punches with Pyfer, which is a bad idea as the UFC betting favorite (-240) hits like a truck. His five finishes, four by KO, all occurred before Round 3. Give him the chance and he’ll bury you. Bet online on the ‘under’.
