The Minnesota Vikings head south to take on the Houston Texans on Sunday in a crucial game for both teams. Both were playoff squads a season ago, but both have also gotten off to 0-3 starts. The Houston Texans enter as decent favorites on the moneyline, and for good reason. Although both teams are 0-3, Houston has an impressive offensive unit.

The Texans have struggled to get things going, averaging 19.0 points per game, but playing on their home field in a spot where they need a win to keep pace in the AFC South, is a major positive.

When evaluating the Minnesota Vikings, it’s apparent that the more running back Dalvin Cook gets the ball, the better. Although Minnesota has yet to win, it suffered a tough loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 3 by the score of 31-30.

The near-victory came thanks to Cook’s 22 rushing attempts, which resulted in 181 yards and one touchdown. Cook should be the focal point, and if the Vikings ride their young star, it’ll help keep them squarely in the mix.

Vikings vs Texans Betting Advice Pick: Texans to win

Point Spread: Texans -4½

Heading closer to the weekend, the Texans have become a slightly larger favorite. While this game should be fairly close, the Texans’ offense will pull away during the second half and take control. The spread of 4½ points is creeping slowly closer to a touchdown but still looks appealing.

If this number were to jump up drastically for any reason (it would likely take an injury to move to a touchdown or more), it’d be worth considering Minnesota. But as things stand, the Texans are the wise play and a team to target in Week 4.

Vikings vs Texans Betting Advice Pick: Texans to cover

Over/Under: 54½ points

Although the Vikings and Texans are both winless, they’ve each gone 2-1 in favor of the over in games. The defensive struggles on each side of the ball are well-documented. While there’s concern over the Vikings’ passing game, consistency of Kirk Cousins, and defensive struggles, along with the Texans’ offensive line, there could still be a plethora of points that help these teams hit another over.

Vikings vs Texans Betting Advice Pick: Over 54½

Final Score: Houston 34, Minnesota 27

Props Talk for Vikings at Texans

The Vikings and Texans game has a question mark early in the week following positive COVID-19 tests for the Tennessee Titans, who the Vikings faced in Week 3. The prop bets for this game are quite interesting, but we’ll look at a few that are good bets.

Total TDs In The Game Over/Under 6½

This could be quite a shootout. Deshaun Watson will be happy to not see a top-ranked defense as he’s seen in the first three weeks, so the Texans could put up at least half of this number.

Team To Score Longest TD Vikings/Texans

The Texans have allowed a total of 188.3 yards per game on the ground, which should set up Cook to potentially have a big game. That leads to a shorter touchdown-distance range for the Vikings, compared to the Texans, who will be attacking through the air and can strike from anywhere.

Race To 10 Points Vikings/Texans

Both teams will put points on the board but the Texans are playing at home, where they’ll feel comfortable from the get-go. Throw in that the Vikings have had some disruptions to practice this week due to potential Covid-19 infections with the Titans, and it seems obvious that Houston will get things going quicker.
