Gamblers Boast USFL’s Longest Winning Streak
The New Jersey Generals (2-3) pay a visit to the hottest team in the USFL, the Houston Gamblers (3-2). Houston has won three consecutive games backed by a strong offense. However, New Jersey is favored by USFL odds (-5½) due to its formidable defense.

Generals Need More from Air Attack
The USFL North is a log jam with all four teams at 2-3. New Jersey hopes to separate itself from the pack with a win in Week 6. It remains among the favorite to win the USFL title with the third-shortest odds (+350), per Las Vegas USFL odds.
The Generals feature one of the league’s top defenses, ranking second in allowed points per game and first in allowed passing yards per game. They allowed only 166 yards on 2.9 yards per play in Week 5’s 24-21 loss against the Philadelphia Stars.
New Jersey’s four turnovers were the difference in the loss. Its offense has been one-dimensional with the league’s top rushing attack and second-worst passing game. Quarterback De’Andre Johnson must improve his accuracy. This week is a perfect opportunity, as Houston ranks last in allowed passing yards per game.

Houston Lighting Up the Scoreboard
The Gamblers’ M.O. has been offense, scoring 32.7 points per game in the last three. They rank second in points and rushing yards per game. Plus, quarterback Kenji Bahar has cleaned up his play.
Bahar’s six interceptions are the highest mark in the USFL. However, he has thrown only one pick during the three-game winning streak. He is hitting down-the-field shots too with a completion of at least 40 yards in his last two outings. An ankle injury kept Bahar out of Week 5, but his return is likely against the Generals.
Mark Thompson has been one of the best running backs in the league, averaging 97.7 yards over the last three. It could be another big week for Thompson, as New Jersey’s run defense has been susceptible.
Despite its turnaround, the sportsbook still has Houston with one of the longest lines to win the championship (+750). A win over the Generals will surely drop the Gamblers’ USFL lines to win it all.

Worth Betting ATS?
Live USFL odds favoring the Generals is quite surprising, especially when Bahar is expected to return. New Jersey has an exceptional defense but it did allow over 100 rushing yards in Week 4 against the New Orleans Breakers. The Gamblers feature one of the top rushing attacks, and their offense is improving with Bahar boosting his efficiency. Take Houston to cover the point spread.
Worth Betting on the Totals?
The over is a favorable bet. The Gamblers’ offense has been rolling. Plus, Houston has the worst secondary in the USFL thus far, which could finally give New Jersey balance on offense. The Gamblers are hanging their hat on high-scoring duels. Don’t expect that to change.
