It isn’t often that teams play twice in a span of 14 days. That is exactly what will happen on Sunday night when the Washington Commanders play host to the New York Giants in a huge game in the NFC East and in the NFC playoff race.
When the teams met on Dec. 4, the result was a 20-20 tie with the teams combining for 729 yards and as many field goals as touchdowns. Not even overtime could determine a winner.
Now they meet again with the chance that the loser will drop out of playoff position.
It is one of four games in Week 15 featuring two teams with winning records and the 40½-point total listed by the NFL betting lines is the lowest of those four matchups.
The Giants have the second-best mark against the Las Vegas odds. The Giants are 9-4 against the spread (ATS), with the Commanders at 7-5-1.
The Giants are 3-2 on the road while the Commanders have a 3-3 record at home.
Below, we have four proposition bets ahead of this NFC East showdown, highlighting some key players in both camps.
Let’s check the latest NFL odds, stats, injury reports, and NFL lines for Giants vs Commanders. We’ve plenty of Vegas NFL odds and NFL week 15 picks for you to consider.
NFL: Giants vs Commanders Props
- Team Scoring First Loses the Game +155
- First score is a Giants Field Goal of +325
- Longest Touchdown in Game O/U 37½
- Commanders the first to 20 points -145
Doesn’t Always Pay to be First
When looking at the trends, it is hard to know what to make of the numbers when the opponents score first.
The Giants are 4-4-1 when giving up the first points of the game with the Commanders going 5-5 in those contests.
Washington struck first in the recent meeting between the teams with the game ending in a 20-20 tie which was a disappointing result for both teams.
Neither team is particularly explosive on offense so there doesn’t seem to be much of a risk of either team building up an insurmountable lead.
- Pick: Team scoring first wins game – NO (+155)

Going With Gano
Six times this season, the first points scored in a Commanders game came on a field goal by the opposing team, with Washington splitting those six games.
As for the Giants, they had two field goals and two touchdowns in the four games when they struck first.
While both teams have allowed the other team to open the scoring more often than putting points on the board first, somebody will need to score first in this NFC East showdown.
Graham Gano is 22 for 25 on-field goals for the Giants this season. so seeing him lining up for a kick in the early going will not be a surprise.
- Pick: First score is a Giants field goal (+325)
Big Plays in the Big-Time Matchup?
It is pretty interesting that the longest play for the Giants in last week’s loss to Philadelphia was a 37-yard catch by Darius Slayton, and the prop for the longest play in the game is set at 37½.
When the Giants and Commanders met on Dec. 4, Slayton had a 55-yard reception while five other players had at least one offensive play of 20 yards or more.
This is not going to look like a Phil Simms vs. Joe Theisman matchup or even one with Eli Manning being opposed by Kirk Cousins. However, there are enough question marks among defensive players to think that at least one play longer than 37 yards is likely, even if the two teams haven’t always been producing big plays. The Giants will be without safety Xavier McKinney and that could help Washington make some plays down the field.
Saquon Barkley will be a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.
Xavier McKinney will not return for Sunday’s game against Washington, according to Daboll.

- Pick: Longest touchdown over 37½ yards (-115)
20-20 Vision
If you take out the first meeting of 2021 between the Giants and Commanders which had 59 combined points on the strength of eight field goals, recent matchups between the teams have been on the low-scoring side.
That leaves those who bet online expecting something similar to 20-19, 23-20, 22-7 and 20-20 final scores, which is exactly what has transpired in four of the last five games between the rivals.
Lay your money down on which team would get to 25 points first at your own risk. The Giants are priced at +600 and the Commanders at +130 to do just that.
A safer way to go is to look at the race to 20 points.
- Pick: Commanders race to 20 points (-145).
