Go With the Visiting Ravens to Cover As Road Favorites

A pair of AFC division leaders will square off on a Sunday night when a Baltimore Ravens team that currently has the best record in the AFC goes to meet up with Jacksonville. The NFL betting lines are listing the visiting Ravens as the favorites.

Baltimore leads Cleveland by two games as the Ravens look to win the AFC North for the first time since 2019. The Ravens are a game ahead of Miami and two games in front of Jacksonville and Kansas City in the race for home-field advantage in the AFC playoffs.

The Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans are a game behind Jacksonville in the AFC South.

Baltimore is 5-1 on the road while Jacksonville has lost four of its seven home games. Not all of those home games have been played in Jacksonville as the Jaguars are usually first in line to play games overseas. Jacksonville lost both of its games when listed by our sportsbook as the underdog at home. Baltimore is 3-1 outright as a road favorite.

The current NFL point spread has Baltimore favored by 3 points. The line was at six points early this month.

Safety Kyle Hamilton (89 tackles) and linebacker Roquan Smith (team-leading 136 tackles) are questionable for Baltimore while linebacker Malik Harrison is expected to play.

For Jacksonville, cornerback Tyson Campbell, safety Andre Cisco, offensive linemen Ezra Cleveland and Walker Little, defensive lineman Folorunso Fatukasi and running back D’Ernest Johnson are questionable. Leading rusher Travis Etienne is also listed as questionable but that has been the case for the last few weeks and he has been able to play through the pain.

When looking at the NFL futures odds, Baltimore was fifth at +1000 with Jacksonville tied for seventh at +1400 in the odds of representing the AFC in the Super Bowl. Baltimore (+225) currently has the best odds of winning the AFC with Jacksonville (+1100) coming in fifth in the AFC title odds.

Baltimore (+550) trails only the San Francisco 49ers in the odds of winning the Super Bowl while Jacksonville (+2200) is ninth in the championship odds.

Ravens Soar on Both Offense and Defense

Baltimore joins Dallas and San Francisco as the only teams to rank in the top five in the NFL in both scoring offense and scoring defense.

The Ravens rank fourth with an average of 27.8 points per game. On defense, Baltimore is second in scoring defense (16.8 points allowed per game) and yards (284.4).

The Ravens are in the top three in the NFL in the fewest points allowed in the first, second, and third quarters.

The Ravens have only trailed at halftime in one of its last 10 games and they won that contest. That is something for those who bet online to consider.

Strength Against Strength

It will be worth watching the game within the game as Jacksonville is fourth in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game while Baltimore, led by quarterback Lamar Jackson, leads the league in rushing yards per game.

In last week’s loss to Cleveland, the Jaguars limited the Browns to 82 yards on 28 carries but did allow three touchdown passes to veteran Joe Flacco. The Jaguars did struggle to stop the run in a recent loss to Cincinnati.

Ravens vs Jaguars Head-to-Head

Trevor Lawrence threw a touchdown pass with 14 seconds left to play and added the go-ahead two-point conversion pass as Jacksonville topped Baltimore 28-27 last season. The Jaguars were listed by the NFL betting odds as a three-point underdog at home.

The game went over the 43-point total on a touchdown pass by Lamar Jackson with 2:02 left to play. It was the third game in a row between the Jaguars and Ravens to finish over the total.

Baltimore has covered in just one of the last seven games against Jacksonville.

Ravens vs Jaguars Game Prediction

Predicted Score: Ravens 27, Jaguars 24

Worth Betting the Moneyline?

Even though Jacksonville has won four of the last five home games against the Ravens, it is hard to pick against the team that is looking like the squad to beat in the AFC.

Baltimore has won five of its last six road games while winning at home has been a bit of a struggle for Jacksonville this season.

NFL Pick: Baltimore Ravens (-170)

Worth Betting ATS?

Baltimore is 4-3 in one-score games while Jacksonville’s last three games have been decided by three points. That last number is of particular interest since the line is currently at 3½, according to our sportsbook.

The Jaguars are 2-4 against the spread at home and 0-2 as the underdog at home.

Baltimore is 2-2 against the spread as the road favorite. Perhaps another Jacksonville game will be decided by a field goal but we like the Ravens to cover as 3½-point favorites.

NFL Pick: Baltimore Ravens -3

Worth Betting on the Totals?

Four of the last six home games for Jacksonville went over the NFL betting odds total while five of Baltimore’s last seven games also landed over the total.

Going with a game to go over against a strong defensive team like Baltimore can be a risky proposition but Jacksonville has the team that should be able to put up some points in this matchup even if Baltimore tight end Mark Andrews and Jacksonville receiver Christian Kirk are both sidelined.

NFL Pick: Over 42½

Questions Of The Day

Will Lamar Jackson rush for over 60.5 yards?

Jackson has gone over 60.5 rushing yards three times this season. One of those came last week so don’t be surprised to see the Baltimore quarterback hit the ground running again.

Will Gus Edwards score over 1.5 touchdowns?

Edwards has three games with at least two touchdowns for Baltimore. However, he hasn’t scored in the last two games and he loses goal-line carries to Lamar Jackson.
