Hurry up and Bet Week 13: Lions ATS, Patriots-Chargers Under are Top Picks

If you want to bet on the NFL, you better do it early every week. As we advance through the week, NFL betting lines move, so be sure that you get the best NFL odds to win your picks for the NFL this week – and every week, for that matter – before the market catches on. Getting the best number possible is vital because you could get a negative closing line value (CLV) if you wait.

We still have a Monday Night Football game to play in Week 12 to cap off another exciting week, but we’re here to take an early look at the odds for Week 13 and give our predictions on NFL Week 13 games before the lines move.

Week 12 was another hectic one across the NFL. The Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears still need to play on Monday night (See My Best Anytime TD Bets for Vikings vs Bears Here), but I’m diving into next week’s schedule. The best NFL expert picks are always made early in the week.

Week 12 Recap

To recap Week 12, we saw the San Francisco 49ers with another statement win, dominating the Seattle Seahawks 31-13. One of the best prop bets for the Super Bowl easily looks like it will be Christian McCaffrey to score a touchdown if the 49ers reach the big game in February. The Detroit Lions were stunned on Thanksgiving Day by the Green Bay Packers 29-22. The Baltimore Ravens defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 20-10 to solidify their spot at the top of the AFC. The Houston Texans and rising star C.J. Stroud came up short against the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-21.

The Buffalo Bills suffered another crushing loss, this time to the Philadelphia Eagles 37-34 in an overtime thriller. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins cruised past the New York Jets. Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos stayed hot with a 29-12 win over the Cleveland Browns. The New York Giants somehow have won back-to-back games behind Tommy DeVito as Big Blue defeated the New England Patriots 10-7.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys took care of business against lesser opponents. If there’s anything for certain right now in the NFL, it’s the uncertainty on a week-to-week basis.

Looking ahead to NFL odds for Week 13, we’re attempting to get the best number for our picks for the NFL this week. Injuries have mounted for every team at this point in the season. Tracking injuries in the NFL is crucial, but I’ve done that work for you.

As it is every season, the quarterback position is front and center every week. Who will step up in Week 13? I’m here to give you my best NFL bets today for Week 13.

Lay the Points With the Lions

The New Orleans Saints fell to 5-6 following their Week 12 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, and things don’t get any easier for them next Sunday. The last time the Lions lost, we trusted them to bounce back, and I’m doing it again this week. Before Week 12, the Saints’ run defense was getting gashed over the last month. They had allowed the seventh-highest explosive run rate and the eighth-highest yards after contact.

The Atlanta Falcons just left tread marks all over the Saints’ backs as they totaled 228 rushing yards. Bijan Robinson was responsible for 91 yards and a touchdown. Next week, the Saints will be faced with the task of stopping the best running back duo in the NFL, David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. The Saints’ offense ranks 20th in DVOA while the Lions’ offense ranks fifth in overall DVOA and fourth in rushing.

The Saints are dealing with injuries all over its roster right now. They placed wide receiver Michael Thomas and cornerback Marshon Lattimore on injured reserve before Week 12, and now Chris Olave suffered a concussion. We haven’t seen many players with a concussion play the following week, so we shouldn’t project Olave to be out there against the Lions.

This is a road game, so there’s the concern about Jared Goff, but it will be played in a dome. Goff and the Lions should bounce back in a big way against the Saints’ defense. New Orleans ranks in the bottom half of the NFL in pressure rate, and that was the Lions’ downfall on Thanksgiving Day versus the Packers. The last time the Lions lost, they came back the following week and won by eight points over the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Saints are 0-4 at home against the spread, and the Lions will be on 10 days of rest entering Sunday’s game. I’m expecting Detroit to win this matchup by at least one touchdown.

NFL Pick: Detroit Lions -4½ vs New Orleans Saints

Fire on Under in Foxborough

There are quite a few early NFL Week 13 spots I’m eyeing, but I’ll give you my favorite early total bet. The Los Angeles Chargers have to travel across the country to play the New England Patriots on Sunday a week after they played on Sunday Night Football. The Chargers were able to keep things close versus the Baltimore Ravens for most of the game but, ultimately, they fell short.

The Chargers had four turnovers in the game, but their defense kept them within striking distance for nearly the entirety of the game. The Chargers’ defense has been terrible against the pass this season, allowing the most passing yards per game in the NFL, but a matchup with Mac Jones or Bailey Zappe doesn’t strike fear into us.

The Patriots average the second-fewest points per game at just 13.5, and yes Justin Herbert and the Chargers can score points, but the environment in Foxborough is never ideal. The Patriots scored a measly seven points against the Giants, and they have scored more than 17 points just twice this season. Their top pass catcher, Demario Douglas, suffered a concussion in Week 12, so his availability is up in the air for Sunday. As long as the Bolts don’t score 30-plus in this matchup, we should see this game finish under 40 points.

NFL Pick: New England Patriots vs Los Angeles Chargers Under 40½
