Is NFL Week 17’s Biggest Favorite Walking Into Trap?

With two weeks left in the NFL season, trap games become a scary idea for playoff contenders like the Buffalo Bills. The path to the postseason is clear for Buffalo, but the Bills aren’t guaranteed anything and might be walking into a trap against the New England Patriots on Sunday.

If you are interested in making some NFL playoff predictions, the Bills are -1200 to make the playoffs at BetUS, while the Patriots are off the board with no shot at making the playoffs. But just because they are eliminated doesn’t mean New England isn’t dangerous. Just ask the Denver Broncos.

Patriots Look for Back-to-Back Traps

The Patriots went into Denver on Christmas Eve and, in a game that was meaningless to them, beat the Broncos, potentially ending Russell Wilson’s career there. That game had trap potential for Week 16, and I think the Patriots have a shot to play spoiler to the Bills in Week 17.

I realize a bet online in favor of the Patriots is a tough sell and a longshot at best. But I can’t say I’m not leaning toward making a half-unit bet on New England to pull off a miracle.

Considering how awful their offense has been all year, it might take some divine intervention by the Patriots. That is, except when the Patriots beat the Bills 29-25 in October. It was the most points the Patriots scored all year, and it was peak Mac Jones.

Bills Narrowly Dodge Week 16 Trap

Props to the Bills for picking up a narrow victory in what was basically a trap game in Week 16 against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium. The Bills held the lead for most of the game, but the Chargers would not go away. The Bolts scored nine fourth-quarter points to lead until less than 30 seconds were left.

That is three tough wins for Buffalo after beating the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys. While this proves that the Bills are a better team on paper, with Super Bowl betting odds of +1200, but the best team doesn’t always win.
