Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans Betting Preview

A pair of unbeaten AFC South teams will square off in Nashville on Sunday as the Tennessee Titans host the Jacksonville Jaguars. This game is part of Week 2 of the National Football League season.

Tennessee is coming off a thrilling win over the Broncos on Monday night, while the Jaguars knocked off the Colts last weekend. The Tennessee Titans come into this game as a huge favorite. BetUS lists the Titans at -9.5 over the Jaguars in this Week 2 affair.

Minshew Sharp in Season Opener

Gardner Minshew II was sharp in the win over the Colts, completing 19 out of 20 passes and throwing for three touchdowns in the win. He was sacked four times and ended up rushing the football five times for 19 yards.

His top target in the win was Keelan Cole, who finished with five receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown. DJ Chark caught a pass for a touchdown as one of his three receptions on the game.

Also involved with the offense was rookie running back James Robinson. The former Illinois State University standout carried it 16 times for 62 yards and a touchdown.

The defense for Jacksonville was on the field a bunch. They forced Philip Rivers into 46 pass attempts and two interceptions. The Jaguars held the Colts rushing offense to just 88 yards on 22 carries in the game.

Jacksonville will try not to look ahead of its divisional rival, as the Jaguars are the first team to play in Week 3 as part of Thursday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins.

Titans Win Ugly in Week 1

It was ugly, but the Titans got the job done. Stephen Gostkowski avoided an absolute disaster by kicking the winning field goal in the final minute of the game to win 16-14. The Titans scored nine points in the fourth quarter to secure the win. The former Patriots kicker missed his first three field-goal attempts of the game as well as an extra-point try.

Ryan Tannehill threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns in the game without throwing an interception. The passing offense saw Corey Davis go over 100 yards, but tight ends Jonnu Smith and MyCole Pruitt were the touchdown recipients. In all, eight guys caught a pass in the season-opening win for the Titans.

Derrick Henry comes into the season with massive expectations. He was not a disappointment in the win, as he carried the football 31 times for 116 yards. His longest was just 13, and he did not get into the end zone, but nonetheless, it was a great start for former Alabama running back.

Low-Scoring Affair

This should be an interesting game. The Titans offense was stuck in the mud, while the Jaguars defense showed they could bend, but not break. That is what makes the 9.5-point spread for this game look like a lot. The Jaguars, if they can take care of the football on the ground and not get down big, should be able to keep this game close.

Look for a slugfest. Both teams will want to pound the football on the ground, with Henry and Robinson being the lead backs. The total is listed at 42 points.

Even that appears to be too much in a game in which kickers could decide the outcome. Do not be surprised if neither team gets over 21 points in this game, so betting the team total could be in play.

Finally, under 4.5 touchdowns is one of this game’s prop bets to certainly look at. A few others include under 47.5 yards for the longest touchdown of the game, and also NO on the team to score three-plus unanswered times. This should be a fun Week 2 game in the National Football League!
